Ive been working on another "Man In The Machine" project and I can't for the life of me find the texture controlling the B-26 dashboard. There's a snapshot of a young lady on a plain gray metal texture behind the gauges. You can see it both from the pilot's internal view, and by looking in the window from the outside. The cockpit texture that appears to be associated with the B-26 by name is not the image being used.

Could it be possible that there is no DDS file for this and it's somehow hard coded into the model? I could perhaps understand doing the plain texture part of it in gmax, but the snapshot just seems like something requiring a DDS file. The B-26 aircraft m3d file does reference a miller_t.dds in the hex, but a search of every directory in CFS3 comes up empty looking for that name.

Hi MM,

the texture name your looking for is b_26c_c1.dds (its just above the file called b_26c_c1_orig.dds) its in the main B26 folder. I imagine your looking at the ETO B26 as I'm the one who put the ladies face into the texture, along with a few other improvements.

all of the stock B26 aircraft call for the same texture for the cockpit. thats why you wont see one called b_26g_c1.dds etc.

hope this helps,

regards Rob.

Okay the old "CFS3 looks everywhere for files" was the problem. There was a stray copy sitting in DR_Engine_Sounds that had the photo on it.

I also figured out that miller_t.dds was just the pilot figure, but I have no idea why my windows search function couldn't find it in the characters folder.

Thanks for the help.

I meant to have it ready by yesterday's anniversary date, but I've had a series of network and computer problems at the house, and lost a week of hobby time fixing things. It's in now and will be available when the moderators get it posted.

Close behind the TBFs, Captain James Collins led his four B-26 Marauders into a gauntlet of anti-aircraft fire and six Zeros. Collins led his planes down to 200 feet above the water and, followed by Lieutenant James P. Muri (the aircraft pictured here), pressed on toward the carrier Akagi. Collins released his torpedo 850 yards from the carrier and pulled away. Muri released his torpedo at 450 yards, then turned and flew down the middle of Akagi's flight deck.

Once Muri's B-26 was clear of Akagi, the Zeros attacked with a vengeance, wounding two crewmen and riddling the landing gear, fuel tanks, propeller blades, radio and the top of one wing. Despite that punishment, Muri and Collins were the only survivors of the four-plane B-26 group.
