Edwards AFB's main airfield looks a little bit different now that it has parallel runways instead of one main paved runway. The new runway was actually set up for shuttle operations as well, having an aiming point installed for altitudes above 2,000 on the STS approach. It took a few years for aerial pics to make it out onto the web, and google maps' pictures are new enough to show it now as well. The runway is not temporary as captioned, but it was temporarily the only runway while the 22L was torn up and rebuilt.

No big deal, I just thought some of you would be interested since this is such a famous airfield.

Does anyone about a vintage Muroc scenery?
Would love to see X-1s, D-558-IIs and all the other "Right Stuff" around... :d
