Anyone have Mike Werner's Storch from SimMarket? Thinking about getting this one. How does it fly?

Don't know about that one, but Piglet's Storch flies pretty good.

Wow.. This is wierd. I was flying around North Africa in Tims Storch late last night.. Couldnt sleep and had just read a cool story on a German vet celebrating his birthday, pilot in WWII of a Storch. He was telling some cool stories on it. I think its in the new issue of the EAA magazine.

What an awesome plane and incredible airfile.

Yep, got Tim's Storch. Excellent plane, been flying her quite a bit lately. Just wondering about any other versions.

I used the Cfs2 version's mdl file in the Fs9 folder after renaming it to the same as the Fs9 mdl and you have the rear machine gun visible. It's a super mdl but unfortunately won't port to FsX.

Piglet's Storch has been on every FS since 2002. It was the first plane I even landed on a carrier! :d

Won't work in FSX, Piglet's going his plane for that now, maybe an FSX version soon.

don't be put off by the Morane-Saulnier tag, as production of the Storch was transferred to the french during WWII by the german high command, so that

One of my favorites......

I e-mailed him a while back and ask if he was going to update it for FSX; he said he is no longer involved in flightsim modeling.....

Glad to see modelers like Tim "Piglet" Conrad and few others have done this model already. Watching the real Fieseler Storch is impressive to say the least. Personally I got to see it in flight during the October open house up at the CF's headquarters in Stow. Anyways here's a few pics of the Collings Foundation's own Fieseler Storch from past open house events.

Great Photos! I love that thing.

I had the chance to see one in person when I was a kid. What a huge bird. They look small, but are actually quite tall and spread out. The landing gear is very wide, and the canopy greenhouse structure is HUGE. The wings are also pretty sophisticated, with all their various wing foil systems and brackets. The cowling, when you see it in person, is also quite 'different'. It has a wierd sort of 'catfish' mouth opening where you can see the inverted V-engine block in there.

Wild planes....

Note: Stall speed, 25MPH.

It's in the package itself if I'm not mistaken. BTW: looking at the screenshots by Bill, I reckon this bird could use a bit of fine tuning of the contactpoints! The tailwheel has completely gone underground!

This should do the trick:

point.0 = 1, -18.928, 0, -1.97, 2574.8, 0, 0.45, 45, 0.25, 2.5, 0.88, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
point.1 = 1, 2.508, -5.437, -7.100, 1574.8, 1, 0.9, 0, 0.294, 2.5, 0.88, 0, 0, 2, 0, 0
point.2 = 1, 2.508, 5.437, -7.100, 1574.8, 2, 0.9, 0, 0.294, 2.5, 0.88, 0, 0, 3, 0, 0

I changed these values in the contactpoints.

Hey RayRey,

It came with the package, featured here at SOH. There are two packages, try both. One should have it. (I think one was for FS2002 and 2004, and one was FS2004 only with updates, I downloaded the updated FS2004 package).

Thanks Cees for the update on the landing gear contact points.

I love how on that footage, the real ones landing gear would fully compress down. HUGE amount of gear travel. Very impressive. Like a bug or a bird coming down from the sky. The first film had me cracking up. The thing in the hands of an expert was like an autogyro! Making it turn and fly at only 25 or 30 MPH is amazing.

Tim's Fs2004 Storch: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=552

The other pack's the CFS2 version.

Two additional civilian textures: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=565

I found some more textures for this aircraft at Flightsim.com.

Edit: Gunther Kraemer's Me-108 has some pretty decent sounds and IIRC it uses the same Argus engine type as the Storch.

Cees, the North Africa texture was in the default package, three others are listed in the aircraft.cfg, but the textures must be downloaded in a separate package.

Get the 1928 gauge package along with the newer 2-D panel and VC panel. Follow the installation for the new panels to a tee or you'll botch it like me the first time! :banghead:

And by all means, if you have Günter Kraemer's wonderful Me-108B-1, either alias the Storch sound file to it or copy and paste the Me-108 sounds to the Storch's Sound folder. It is much more real for the Argus engine, sounds delightful. Thanks a bunch Ferry! :applause:

Here's one of those USGS (United States Geologic Service) Idaho strips, named Fish Lake.

Does anyone know if Tim released a paint kit for the Storch? I searched hi and lo at FlightSim and found kits for about everything he's done but the Storch!

I have done a repaints for it several years ago, but it was crude. Layered textures make the whole job so much easier.

FS2004 Messerschmitt Me 108 B-1 "Taifun". The Messerschmitt Me 108 (or Bf 108) Taifun was a single-engined sports and touring aircraft built by Bayerische Flugzeugwerke from 1934 on. It was Willy Messerschmitt's first all-metal airplane with retractable gear and some other - to this time very modern - supplies. This aircraft is part of the historical fleet of the German Lufthansa. It was built in 1940 and is shown on airshows around Europe. The model has animated parts and a fully funcional virtual cockpit.
