Just a few quick shots of the Tigercat again. I've redone all the textures (enlarged them to 2048x2048 to get better detail). I still have to tone down the panel lines, add some weathering, add some shine to her and a few other tweaks. I'm really enjoying her now.:salute:

Thanks, I toned the panel lines down, then added an alpha channel to put a bit of a shine on it and the airplane went transparent, lol. Apparently, this model was never coded to accept a shine. . .too bad. Oh well, back to the weathering.

If the model is freeware, post a link. I've got Jeff "WuhWuzDat" Delhaye's "Shiney" mdlc integration installed, so flipping the reflective switch is no problem as long as the model will accept the change.

Here it is Tom. . .if the link doesn't get you there, just search "Tigercat", it's the first one. . .by Mark Rooks.

I been around a lot of F7-Fs. They had a shine like a new car. A lot brighter than you show.
My Uncle Sam, a Major on the Marine Corps, was the first commander of the Tigercats squadron.

It's listed as an FSX model. Does it work in FS9?

The Alpha F7F Tigercat is an FS8/FS9 model. You can download it from the freeware page on the Alphasim site. Does not come with panel or gauges. I uploaded a panel set for the Tigercat some time back....2D and VC panels all done up. I am reworking the panel for FS9 as part of my restoration project....using nicer gauges, modifying the 2D and VC panel images...I enlarged the VC panel image from 512 by 512 to 1024 by 1024 for max clarity and detail.

The reflective mdl for the F7F-3 day fighter has been sent. I haven't done the tweak to the F7F-3N night fighter yet.

Smoothie,

One thing I have found while doing up a bare metal skin for the Tigercat...on the F7fbndp2.bmp texture sheet...the tail fillett thingie and the lower portions of the rear non-moving prop blades are over lapped. So, when using a light color to paint the plane, if you look at the back side of the non-moving props, you will see the lower half of the prop blades are the same color as the tail fillett thingie.

ok got most of the fuselage nailed down now, given it a high sheen (Working on 2 Variations, high gloss and low-gloss) and adjusted tonal values for some of the panels to give it a bit of depth... fuselage so far...

Wouldn't specular gloss be more appropriate? The real ones were finished in glossy paint, not reflective like polished bare metal.

THe stock F7F MDL files have plenty of specular shine/gloss. I tweaked the F7F-3 MDL for reflective because I want something other than Glossy Sea Blue on the bird...came across some pics of a large scale R/C Tigercat that is painted up like a F9F Panther with the bare metal foward and the blue Tail and wing tips. Looks so cool I have to do it.
