WW2 era Airplane Engine Found!

look What I found!



theres a B-26 Wreck near where i was still looking for the the main wreck site

though i found one of the tires of the plane near by the engine and i looked online and it look just like the one i seen on a B-26 Photo

There is a complete wing up on top of a forested mountain near Sheeps Crossing in Arizona. Walked by it on a trail. Didnt find the rest of the aircraft, only the wing. Had early WWII or pre-WWII markings of a trainer in the AirCorps.

Somehow, it was nearly perfectly preserved. Maybe the trees kept it from getting too much sun...

I knew this 'Britonian' years ago that was telling me he and his dad used to go out in the country sides of England when he was younger, and look for shot down planes, like German bombers and fighters. They found a couple, mostly engines.. (Just a little trivia, this particular Britonian was the famed John Horseman of Mirage Racing fame, chief engineer under John Wires who designed the Ford GT-40). small world..

Pratt and Whitney Wasp engine....

Had 18 Cylinders...you can see the empty spots.

2,500 HP, that's 2,320 more than my Archer.

Same engine for the F6F, P-47, and F4U.
