I read MIPBIAS should be set at about '5'. Where in the config file is it? Must it be "added"? Where do you add it?
And, for those who understand these things..what does MIPBIAS do? (My initial intent is to reduce some of the shimmering I see at distances: airports, bridges, etc). Thanks very much for any help.

Last information I have is that Mipbias is practically useless in FSX.

If you want sharper textures in the distance experiment ith the LOD_Detail_Radius value in the fsx.cfg.

Gets put in fsx.cfg display device section.
For mipped textures (usually 8 mips) supposed to diisplay starting at larger resolution which improves clarity.
Does good for me.

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT.0]
Mode=1600x1200x32
;tp tweak
MipBias=6
Anisotropic=1

I also have:
[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=8.500000

and in fsx advanced weather visibilty settings (not sure where is in fsx.cfg):
tops 50000
base 49999
visibilty slider all the way left

As always, your mileage may vary.
