My Puppy Ellie Mae....she was about a week out from being euthanized at a dog pound in rural Kentucky.....

Thanks for rescuing Ellie Mae...too many pups, dogs, kittens and cats are euthanized. As Bob Barker said, "Help control the pet population, have your animals spayed or neutered." Our dogs were fixed at 6 months (Hazel was a bit older since she was so tiny....barely 5 pounds...so the vet wanted to wait another month and a half to give her time to grow a bit more...small dogs and anesthesia don't mix well). Just had the kitten fixed a week and a half ago. The ferrets were fixed before they left the breeder.

I will get pics of our critters together and get them uploaded tomorrow...but not the fish as they are too hard to photograph. Right now...the Green Mile is coming on...so I am going to stretch out on the sofa with the doggies laying on my chest and belly and watch Tom Hanks in a very great performance.

Okay, here go the cats. I got a free female bengal from someone that owed me a big favor, and started shopping for a male. It took me a few years, but I produce arguably the most unique and exclusive bengals around save for one or two other breeders that I have a ton of respect for. I only have one litter per year, I have a 20 kitten waiting list.

My best pet friend, former farm cat and definately the alpha of the cats at home here. I have an expression that says he's made from "chicken bones and razor blades" because he's so bony and has huge claws. Also seems to have been made from spare parts, as nothing from the neck down seems to match from one side to the other. Also appears to understand English perfectly, lol.

:icon_lol: It must be my huge, black eyes. For being part Asian Leopard, they sure are laid back. You have to do all kinds of goofy stuff to get them to look at the camera. When they finally do, you get a bit of a 'what the hell?' look.

This is Junior, my master, otherwise known as Monkeybutt or J. R. He has a taste for Inifinity Automobiles and driving and sniffing ducks. Fave food is bacon strip mini's, T-Bone mini steak treats, and Dingo bones. He specializes in wierd sounds (like none you have ever heard, lol). Some sound like a cat...

If I put my wallet in my pocket and grab the keys, he goes into 'freak out mode' and demands to go in the car with me..

He's my best bud.

Can't find a spider im my apartment at the moment, so sorry, no pet pictures from me! :icon_lol:

As a compensation, here's a shot of my brother's fishtank (which, in reality, is maintained by my dad).
It's a bit older, the interior arrangement and fish composition is a bit different by now.

Since this shot, most of the Corydoras (four of the five original ones at the left) have died and were replaced by new ones, but more importantly, the two bristlenose catfishes are alive and well. They have some nice personalities, one is shy and always hangs out (literally) near the filter while the other one likes to dig around and wreak other havoc, like chewing on the plants. :icon_lol:
Latest additions were some neon tetras and two small dwarf pufferfishs to combat any snail infestations.

Fishes are way more interesting than one may think.

Our Critters...well, just our dogs and kitten:

Hazel is our 2 year old female Chihuahua....8 pounds of cuteness and playfulness. She thinks and acts like she is a Yellow Lab/Boxer mix....loves to fetch, loves to play tug of war, loves to rough house. Does not act like a Chihuahua in any way.

15681570

Brutus is our 3/4 Chihuahua/1/4 Jack Russell mix. 12 pound tornado of energy and activity. He is so hard to get good pics of as he never fully sits still....even if his body is stopped, either his ears or his tail are moving all the time. For a small dog, he sure is loud and FAST!

1569

Auggie...our 8 month of kitty. Deb found him on Craigslist for free. The lady said he was a F4 Bengal Cat....but I don't think so....if he is a decendent of the Asiatic Spotted Cat, he does not really look like on...though his brother and sister did look like Bengals and were much bigger than him...possibly he inherited more of the domestic cat traits and less of the ASC traits..he does have the eyes though.

We have a few Beagles.
But we've always had Beagles as our constant companions.
The breeders we have always used for our dogs are just the type of people one expects to have taken on Beagles, very kind and caring, and happy to keep a few 'Baby Pictures' for us.

When I was married, (long sad story in itself,) the wife devulged that she had always wanted a beagle. Just so happened I worked with a guy that raised purebred benchleg beagles and his Dame and Sire just had a new litter, so being the loving husband I was, I thought I'd suprise the wife one day.

Let the records show it was the dumbest and worst mistake I have ever made in my life.

I've never seen a dumber dog that that beagle.

And dig?
I would come home from work and find 3 foot deep holes in my yard from where the beagle out of sheer anxiety while we were away from the house just dug holes to keep his mind off the fact that we were gone.

When the divorce came she kept the dog.

snuffy, sorry to hear of your beagle trouble. with most dogs it's not the dog, but every now and then there's one that just ain't right. i had a dog once that had some mental issues. it wasn't a beagle though. i think it was a malamute.

Snuffy, Beagles are really very smart dogs but they MUST be trained correctly from Day 1.
Our very first was a very demanding little bitch who just craved company.
'Duchess' (was she ever!) dug holes out of boredom but once she was firmly but gently disciplined, and graduated with honours from 'Puppy School' she was great.
Still demanded about 30 minutes of one-on-one 'Quality Time' when I walked through the door and (like all Beagles) a five kilometre walk each day but no more bad behaviour.
People forget that they are working dogs and respond to training with enthusiasm, equally they thrive on praise.
'Biggles' and 'Harry' are the 'Alpha Males' in our present lot, both get very shirty if they feel they are left out of any conversation, even to giving either of us a tap on the arm to acknowledge their inclusion.
Like I said, very smart little hounds indeed.

I am a dog guy..pure and simple. Have had dogs all my life. Ranging from 8-pound Hazel the Chihuahua (posted pics of her earlier in this thread) all the way up to a 155 pound German Shepard/King Shepard cross. I have had a number of "hounds" during the years....when I say "hounds" I mean various types of hunting dogs...though I never used them to hunt. German Short Hair, Beagles, Blue Tic, and some convoluted hound mix mutts. Out of all the dogs and breeds I have owned or have spent time around....Beagles are the number 1 all-around breed in my book. If you want a superb family companion, you can't go wrong with a properly bred and properly trained and socialized Beagle. I have never known a Beagle to be out right aggressive, but they do make good watch dogs. I have never known a Beagle who did not love playing with children. I have never known a Beagle who did not like to hop up on the couch, squish itself against your side and watch a movie with you. I have never known a Beagle that was not up to some fetch or romping in the yard. Beagles have few inherited health problems...unless you get one that has been too closely bred for too long...brother and sister dogs do not produce good pups. They live a long healthy life..provided they have proper diet, exercise and vet visits of course. They have a bark that some people find problematic....but to those who love Beagles...that bark is like music to our ears. There isn't another dog on the face of the earth as cute as a Beagle.
