Hi all,
Has anybody got these carriers to work with AICarriers? I'm trying to setup an escort carrier task group using these models, but they will not show at all. I tried using both models (pilotable and AI) but its a no go on my end. I'm hoping
someone has already done this and can shed some light on how they did it.

I have installed the AI version just fine, if you are referring to the one that comes from
Avsim named " escort_carrier_group.zip" All you need is to have that models folders in your
FSX "Boats" directory ( the CVE Casablanca AI folder, containing the model and texture folder plus sim,cfg file )
and a proper entry in the AI Carriers "aicarriers.cfg" file.

NOTE: The zip file has the folders for the " XShip CVE Casablanca AI" and "XShip DD Fletcher AI"
under "SimObjects\Airplanes\". This is NOT where they should go. They should be in the
"SimObjects\Boats\" directory.

The aicarriers.cfg file included in that download should be considered "for reference only" if you have
added any other ships to the AI Carriers configuration.

Just extract the entry pertaining to the CVE setup and paste it into your existing
aicarriers.cfg file after the last entry. The be SURE to adjust the "Formation.8"
to the correct formation number....the next one in sequence after your previous "last".

[formation.8] <----- adjust this number as required!
title=Escort carrier Group
unit.0=CVE_Casablanca_AI, 0, 0
unit.1=DD_Fletcher_AI, -200, 0You should then see that title appear in your inflight AI Carriers menu.

If you are referring to another package, the procedure is the same. The important thing is that the
"title=" entry in the aicarriers.cfg file matches the "title=" entry in the sim.cfg file and the "Formation.x"
number is correct, in sequence.

Thanks Paul, but ive got that package installed and working. I'm trying to use the carriers from the casablanca.zip i got from FS Shipyards (GambierBay and Bougainville) which comes with both a pilotable and AI versions. Setting up the AICarriers cfg with the correct title from the AI cfg is what i did and yet they will not show. All the other ships i've got seem to show with no problem, its just these 2 that won't.:isadizzy:

Which version do you have (there have been 3 releases)? There are improved installation instructions with version 3 (a set of html documents). There is also a pre-made config for AIcarriers included (just drop it into the appropriate directory in the aicarriers directory). Gypsibaron's directions will work with this package as well.

For any of them the AI versions are intended to be used with AI carriers. They do work alone and in fleets with AIcarriers.

Do they show up in the aicarriers menu, but not on the water?

Also are you putting them together with ships from other packages? I mix and match sometimes to diagnose problems. No ships showing up is a different error from one or two not showing up.

This evening I will post an additional aicarriers config for a fleet. Feel free to email me as well (I think I include email in the readme documents).

That will teach me to read the read-me files. :icon_lol: I have v3 of your carriers that i got when you first released them.
I did use the title for them in aicarriers but they would not show. I'm trying to get them to show with the uss cabot by Alberto Garcia in a small task force with 5 fletcher class DD's. The Cabot and DD's show with no problem. I'm going to add them as single carriers to see if they show up as per the read me.:kilroy:

OK, figured out why the carriers would not show. You can only have 5 ships per entry, i took 3 of the dd's out and bingo the carriers showed.:jump: Looking forward to what you come up with mfitch, your carriers add alot to my fun in fsx.

So we only get five. I did not know that. From the programming standpoint I understand the limitation. It turns out my biggest fleet so far was exactly five ships.

Larger fleets could be built using boat traffic files. This is being discussed in the Solomon Islands thread for that project. I might add one of these for the next update.

After playing around more with this you can add more than 5.:isadizzy: I don't know why the carriers would not show before, i was adding the correct title from the sim.cfg to the aicarriers cfg. (grimlins on my end maybe) They work now and i do have 3 carriers and 4 dd's in one config. Going to keep playing with this to see if there is a limit.
Looking forward to the Solomons package as this is the area i like to fly the most.
