Some of us are old enough to remember these birds. Lots of Post-war mods of military fighters, Mustangs, lightnings, even a mosquito. The Military Jets also participated. Has all the individual categories, winners lists, and great photos. Something for the repainters to use.

Thanks for the HU. Very interesting indeed and the first time I've seen colour photos of the single seat T-6 racers.

Very cool site! Thanks for the heads up.

Steve Wittman was in there.

I cant believe all the surplus fighters that competed. Man.. Could you imagine F-16's and Su-27's and F-15's in there competing? That would be a wild race.

Marv, good to hear from ya. :wavey:
The Republic AT-12 Guardsman is an interesting choice for a race plane.

I remember as a very small kid, being taken to the National Air Races at Baginton (that's Coventry airport UK) in the late 1950's and early 1960's

Over a period there were all sorts of races, from the Kings Cup to the national aerobatic championships.

Unforunately my biggest memory is not of the aeroplanes and the flying, but walking round looking skyward and walking into very solid and immovable pole that had loudspeakers on the top, not once, but twice, causing a nose bleed, and my mum bawling my dad out for not taking good enough care of me :bump:
