I am reading a new book called "Preemptive Strike" A secret plan to bomb Tokyo in the summer of 1941, it is based on uncovered secret papers from the Naval, Army, archives, it also involves Mr William Pawley the co-creater of the AVG. It covers somewhat the P-40 which was the only American fighter pursuit plane in mass production at the time. I saw pictures of the XP-40 in polished metal...it was a modifed P-36, so I think it would be great to fly the XP-40 in FS9.

Cheers

I think there is an early P40 somewhere - not sure if it is bare metal, though.

I can certainly understand the enthusiasm for the test-bed of the final P-40. You could fly any of the available P-40 aircraft and dumb it down a bit in the airfile or aircraft.cfg. The Curtiss XP-40 was the experimental version, or test aircraft for what was finally known (in America) as the P-40.

An interesting read on the XP-40/P-40

You can always use Bruce Thorsons incredible P-40B. (can't remember where its at anymore), and add this bare metal skin by Smashing time:

Smashing Times paint is pretty much just like the photo thedude247 posted.

Edit: Ok, now I remember where to get the plane. http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fsec=0&fname=HAWK81B.ZIP
