Mustang? pffft. :d Spitfires are where it's at. That includes Seafires. Nothing like the sound of a RR Griffon pulling hard.

The Mustang sounded pretty good, but I gotta agree with Willy. Nothing like the sound of the big Rolls Royce Griffon in the Seafire. Like the guy says... "What a Sound".

Get both to play in sync on a pass over the field and on their pullouts.... sond from both playing at the same time. The Rolls is a little deepr in pitch but they don't sound all that much different otherwise. Yeah, I've heard both run first hand but not together like this. To me there's nothing like the sound of either one. Both are spectacular to listen to.... one of the best ways to get the ol goose bumps going I can think of.... IMHO.

Great videos Naki and Safn, thanks . :applause:

I noticed that the airstrip appeared to be next to (or part of?) a golf course. I can just imagine the guy who's lined up and about to sink a putt for the first birdie of his life, when.... WHOOOOAAAARRRRR!!!!! :icon_lol:

Tractor engines! How dare you sully the great name of Rolls Royce by referring to them in such a manner.;)

That 'sport' is sacriligious and barbaric in the extreme.

For me 'Daddy' has the Shack beat!

If you want a high-class twin, forget Lightnings - get a MOSSIE!

A film you'll already know (someone suggests these are computer generated, but if they are, their computer is better than anything we've seen round here):

Gives you the shivers up and down your spine!

Great vids...I always thought a Packard Merlin in a Mustang sounds just a bit better than a Merlin in a Hurricane or Spitfire (even the Packard Merlin powered Spit)...its been sometime since I heard a Griffon ..hopefully I will get a chance in a year or two to compare against some Merlins.

One radial I like the sound of is in the Lavochkin LA-9 ..I think it has an Ash radial similar to the one in the Flug Werke FW190s..if I find a vid on the LA-9 I'll post here

Jim Smith has an impresive a/c collection...it even puts my virtual FSX collection to shame!

...if you're into agricultural machinery, that is :d
Merlins in P-51s or Spitfires are the music
