They never used to have these street shots in our area before. I can remember clearing out this planter hole in the driveway before concreteing over it. Was about 2 or 3 years ago.

Dont' have me, but my property and a little of the garage and house can be seen in the Google Earth Street View. Check Street View HM, if a little camera is shown at your home, click it, skew until your home comes in view.

Looks like towards sunset, early spring, last year. Trees are starting to pop leaves, and I had already mowed the ditch for the first time of the year.

Here's our little plot of land in New Castle, DE. Cheezy might know where this is.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/GT182/Home.jpg

This from Google was our home up in Ft. Covington, NY on the Canadian Border. House is in the center of the photo... no street views.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/GT182/FtCovington.jpg

In this photo the house is in the lower right and where the black line, railroad tracks, goes out of the photo is the border for the US and Quebec Canada.

LOL.. I'd been meaning to look since the word got out that the GoogleCam was roaming around... how dumb!!
For whatever reasons they only drove down half the STREETS, but they drove down ALL the ALLEYS in our neighbourhood. Of course, now I get to look over neighbour's fences into their untidy back yards. When I search for my address I end up half a block away looking at my neighbour's rear garage.

DOH!

Kinda scary how technology allows for this kind of view.

Here's my apt, but I'm around the corner in the back, LOL. Kinda glad google doesn't allow for the view to go to my door.

you sure you live in newcastle?
that pic looks awfully clean and well-kept. :icon_lol:

actually, if i had to venture a guess, i don't remember the name of the neighborhood, but it kinda looks like the one that's behind the soft ice cream place on basin road. otoh, there's alot of brick places like that up around banning park below newport, but then, you would'na said newcastle.

For something a little 'different' on Street View go to:

Sampsonia Way, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania 15212

Place your marker on the intersection of Sherman and Sampsonia, and head west towards Monterey. You will encounter a mini-marathon, a marching band, and a whole bunch of other stuff courtesy of the people who live and work in the area.

It's not a rich neighbourhood so most of it never looks good when I cruise the dumpsters. On the other hand they can't ( between Goog's ineptness and my property) see into MINE :wiggle: so they'll never catch me balancing a beer on my bare belly :icon29:

I love this!
We live in a connected world...
There was some discussion about privacy and ethics:
Did, for example, the lady in the white dress really climb down the knotted sheets in Sampsonia Way??

NZ is pretty well covered, but no-one came up with a street party that I could find.

Yes Harley, That's me working on the driveway. I think there is a control in the viewer you can nominate the street shot as "inappropriate" or some such thing. Must be some sort of privacy thing set up in the program. Maybe one can have a shot removed for some reason.

I live in Elsmere, DE (not too far from Gary) and I find it amazing that there are such vast differences just in neighborhoods. My wife and I noticed one neighborhood not too long ago where the houses were untidy and unkept. There was a bump in the road where newer pavement began and it was a totally different world. The houses were the same age, but much better kept. Right next door to the crappy neighborhood in the same development.

Henry, Just trying to work out how that sailing boat is standing up. Can't see to clearly but looks like the whole thing is standing because the keel is wedged in a slot of some sort.

i used to live on maple ave just before they tore down the mexican hacienda i mean elsmere park apts. i also lived in parklynn apts (the ones named each after a state) also richardson park, clealand heights, and newport.
i still dream of the day when i can get back there for gerrardo's pizza, and for maryland ave sub shop.

You really have to wonder where Google gets some of their data. Have a look at this map:

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Greensboro,+Guilford,+North+Carolina&ll=36.106537,-79.786298&spn=0.006709,0.009602&z=17

Fountain Manor is a condo community built on what was once a reservoir for Revolution Mill (part of Cone Mills). That reservoir was drained more than 30 years ago! I still remember my dad and a couple of neighbors would fish out of it, even though it was supposedly "prohibited!":monkies:

My grandmother lives in a community called Aaron Lake, and on Google Maps the actual Aaron Lake which is man-made and happened to be drained when the picture was taken is unlabeled (the lake gets drained every couple of years so people can repair their docks). There is another small pond nearby that is incorrectly labeled Aaron lake. :isadizzy:

I know one thing, Google doesn't up date it's satellite photos very often. Our house up in NY is still the same photo from before we moved in back in 1993. The one for our house in New Castle is from back before we moved in too.... Has to be before 2006, but probably from back in the late 90s.
