You mentioned that most (all) of the Grumman's had this type of starter system ... do you have any idea about any other models having it ... like TDB, SBD, TBF, F4U, and any others?

I directed this to Helldiver ... but ya'll jump right in if you know something.:pop4:

I found my old post (pre crash) ... the answers were there for the most part ... only Grummans used it.

In the remake of "Flight of the Phoenix" there are several engine starts on the P&W R2800 engines using the Coffman starter.

I know it was used on Spitfires, Hurricanes, Typhoons and Tempests.

Was it also used on Mustangs and Merlin engined P-40s?

I did find one spot that related that it was also used on the DC3

If I'm rememberin right, the early Corsairs had em too......up to the -1A I think.

For those not aware of Lawdog's engine files, he has several that include or have the option of using the Coffman starter.
