the downloads on that site are TORRENTS, now TS have NEVER used torrents for downloads, so that seems odd, and I suggest that those are NOT what you think, and contain nasties:running:

I would not touch them till the site is back up

It looks suspicous to me, like TS has been hacked

I completely agree; getting BETA's and Un-Official releases from a TORRENT or "UNOFFICIAL Looking" site is highly suspicous and caution is warranted until this site is fully up and going again.

No offense intended, Mr. Jay Kae. :blind:

Thank you very much.

Honestly, torrents CAN be used for GOOD things. I torrent Linux distros all the time. Way faster than downloading from their servers.

However the TS page does seem rather strange...

'Rapidshare' is mainly used by pirates these days, IMHO..... there are plenty of other good ways to share files and I am sure TS would have stuff posted on their own site if needed.

Rapidshare is used by a lot of people - there are a lot of FS repaints and driving game add-ons that are distributed using the site, although personally I hate the place.

Torrents are also used a lot for patches and updates, to avoid overloading a central server when a lot of people will be after the same file - plus as Kiwikat says, most Linux distros and a lot of other freely available software are distributed by torrent to avoid high server/bandwidth overhead costs.

However... I've never heard of Teamspeak using Torrents before either, and I'd be very wary about a download that doesn't come directly from the server.

Irregardless of whether the Teamspeak website has been hacked or not Rapidshare is a perfectly valid way of distributing files, as is using torrents.

Sure, that's why all our software turns up there :icon_lol:

Yep looks like they have been hacked.

Seems very unlikely they would distribute this way knowing how they are distributing TS 2.

I would be very cautious about those files.

No I would just stay away.

:salute:

Yes Francois. Tell you what, we'll ban the internet because everything on there is illegal... isn't it?

I wouldn't trust this because it's not the way the developers have delivered content in the past. Just because you have your own servers, pay for webhosting and content delivery doesn't mean everyone else can afford to (or, indeed, have a requirement to), so they use upload servers. The fact that people use them for illegal content too is unsurprising, but doesn't make it their sole purpose for existence.

Here's the link from the TS site:

http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=teamspeak3

They have the download links down for right now. Too much traffic. And there are, among other link sites listed there, Rapidshare links.

I just downloaded the beta from the TS site. It installed easily, and within less than a minute got setup. Looking positive so far!

It's been a long time arriving!!

I've always had big problems, configuring my microphone to work properly. It was a breeze with TS3 beta, thus far.
