I've been wondering what ever happened to my computer sounds. These are the tones and chirps when XP starts up or shuts down etc. They work on another users log-on but when I check my control/sound/program events list there are several line items missing. Those missing are there in the other log-on's list but not when I am logged on. Does anyone know what is going on or where this list is located? I've had no luck penetrating the MS barrier for questions, at least not for free.

Thank very much, that did the trick. The link http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm takes you to Lellys-Korner registry edits, run item #6, clicked yes twice and everything came back.:ernae:
