I have the FSD Cessna 337 for FS9 - I also see it is advertised as FSX. Is it a true FSX model or a port over?

It is a port over.... it works fine though in fsx. You may have to adjust the panel config to if there is some bleeding through in the vc.

If you own the fs9 version I believe you can download the fsx version at no charge.

Thanks - I'll stick to flying it in FS9. Love the plane but decided FSX will be a "no-portover" environment. Excuse to buy something else.....

It flies in X well enough, and it is paintable...

Steve Weaver was tickled pink to see his plane represented in the simulator...

it's unfortunate that they've taken the position that it's not worth re-doing for fsx. i would love to have the model, but i won't pay money for a port over. no matter how many people say "it works just fine in fsx" it still going to have certain issues that make it not worth paying for

That is a fair comment of course and I do agree, but as the prices drop, it does make a good low budget plane for X. And it really isn't that bad (in the price category).

I've only recently got FSX up and running satifactorily - and by that I mean comparably with my old FS9 setup. With FS9 I have the frames locked at 60, in FSX they are at 36. I've heard that port overs can be frame unfriendly and so its no port overs. Not much point really when I can still fly them in a good looking FS9.
I'm still learning about FSX but I am gradually building up my scenery and my hanger. Had a real bonus when I found out that FlyTampa's St Maarten was FSX - so that went on pretty quick. As did Scotflight.

Accel yes, DX10 I don'T have a clue - that was so buggy I never used it. I am now on Win 7 but I haven't reinstalled the plane yet...

I don't have FSX, but the FSD Cessna 337 is my favorite GA in FS9.

I would like to see Carenado do one of these.

i emailed them about doing that but they didn't seem to be interested in it. maybe if enough of us signed some sort of petition we could get them to do one, or better still convince fsd to recompile theirs.
as much as i like carenado i would like to see a 337 be repaint-able in a way that doesn't drive the painters nuts. banana bob does some real nice stuff. i'd like to see what he could do with one of those.
also at least a decent a/p like what might be found in the default 172 or the 208. it would be nice to be able to dial in your alt and vs as well as follow the gps. chances are carenado would give the same panel they put in every Cessna they do.

So ya don't like the factory Cessna ARC 400 2-axis A/P cheezy? :d
FSD did a pretty good rendition of it in the 337 given the limitations of MSFS. It's not as point-n-click easy as the Bendix-King as used in the default MS planes but then again I think FSD was looking for something a little closer to what is found in a real-live Cessna.
Once you use the 400 AP for a while you'll get the hang of operating it.
And you can follow a GPS track with it too...turn on Nav hold and hit the GPS button to toggle into GPS track mode.

Not everyone has the coin to upgrade their old Cessnas to the latest S-Tec or B-K so there are quite a few of the old 200/300/400 systems still out there.

(Or...you can always gut the panel on the FSD 337 and do your own avionics upgrade. :) )
Hmmm... how about a G1000 glass panel Skymaster? Ya got me thinking now...

No FS9 model will work correctly in DX10, so that by definition includes this. ;)

I just started flying the 337 in FSXA. The FS default autopilot doesn't work, in the sense that heading and altitude bugs cannot be moved. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

Hi
I use the keyboard commands CTRL+Shift+H for the Heading Bug or CTRL+SHift+S for the VSI bug and then use the + and - keys on the keyboard to move the bugs. Not ideal I know, but it's the only way I've found to do it. If these don't work, make sure they are listed in Options//Settings/Controls/Buttons-Keys.

Thanks! It's a pain indeed.

Since the FSD Cessna 400 autopilot doesn't seem to work in FSX, I got rid of the mode selector gauge and added the default Bendix King autopilot panel. Both bugs now work fine.
