I am preparing for the great PHP2 set up and trying to get the best mesh for Hawaii and had an interesting challenge with one. I dont use the new Rhumba mesh btw, because i am trying to save the shorelines as long as possible. So far, with Stiz' PTOv3 textures which work nicely i have found a series of older Hawaii mesh packages that were made for FS2002 and thought they might work in CFS2, so far they seem to, tho not with as much elevation as might be useful.

I found these over on flightsim:

CFS2 Hawaii Mesh
Combat Flight Simulator - CFS2 Scenery
CFS2 scenery--Hawaiian Islands
Name: cfs2haw2.zip Size: 1,854,771
CFS2 scenery--Hawaiian Islands. Enhanced Mesh scenery for all of Hawaii (HI), created from 3 arc second USGS DEM data. Also includes four airfields and two carriers with airfield menu entries. By Martin Wright. (See also HAWCARR1.ZIP)

FS2002 Hawaii Mesh

FS2002 - FS2002 Scenery
FS2002 Scenery--Hawaiian Islands 30m Mesh

Name: haw30m10.zip Size: 5,583,196
FS2002 Scenery--Hawaiian Islands 30m Mesh Scenery. Resampled to LOD 10 for better performance on some machines. Highly detailed 30m terrain mesh scenery for the Hawaiian islands of Hawaii, Maui, Kauai and the island SW from Kauai.

FS2002 - FS2002 Scenery
FS2002 scenery--Island Of Oahu Terrain Mesh
Name: hnl30m10.zip Size: 3,077,188
FS2002 scenery--Island Of Oahu Terrain Mesh, HI. This terrain mesh based on 30 meters horizontal resolution models is for the island of Oahu, Hawaii, USA. Honolulu and Pearl Harbor are in Oahu. Two versions of this highly detailed terrain mesh are included: one resampled to LOD of 10 (38.2 meters) and the other resampled to LOD of 11 (19.1 meters). Whereas the LOD of 10 mesh smooths the original elevation data somewhat, LOD of 11 preserves the original 30 meter resolution better. You can pick which one you wish to run in your system to replace the default terrain mesh for this island. By Orlando Sotomayor.

FS2002 - FS2002 Scenery
FS2002 Lod 10 Mesh Of The Island Of Maui
Name: mauimesh.zip Size: 32,162,844 FS2002 Lod 10
Mesh Of The Island Of Maui, Hawaii (HI). By Kenneth Barrett.

FS2002/FS2004 Hawaii 38.2m Terrain
Name: usa38haw.zip Size: 6,446,358

FS2002/FS2004 Hawaii 38.2m Terrain. Hawaii 38.2 is part of Raimondo Taburet's new freeware terrain mesh scenery for the whole of the USA designed at 38.2 m. FS2002 - FS2002 Scenery
FS2002 Scenery--Hawaii Islands

using the sotomayor for Ohahu worked pretty well, ...

but the Taboret freeware version did some really weird things...can anyone give a hint as to why and if there is a fix for using it ?

I put the mesh bgls into a folder named for Hawaii in a scenery sub folder and put it into the Scenedb directory and activated it as normal.

I did not try the Martin Wright one yet...

Don't bother if you're having trouble...Crash's Oahu scenery not only includes airfields, but coastlines and mesh. It's specifically designed to work with Rhumba's new scenery.

wow, ok Rami thanks for that. I had no idea this new phase of the Pearl Harbour Project would be so complete and so wonderful. I am so grateful for the dedication and all the hard work...in so many areas of CFS2. I hope the original development team knows how much their orignal work is being continued. Thanks for that heads up. I guess that mesh by Tabouret is just too much specialized for FS rather than CFS to work.

Which scenery from Rhumba will we need?

Pips,

Actually, you don't need any, but Rhumba's mesh won't interfere.

You can always buy the Pearl Harbor addon here http://www.justflight.com/productDoublePack.asp?pid=129 or you can also get the Hawaii scenery at www.Simviation.com (http://www.Simviation.com) CFS2 Scenery section as well.

But PH2 is looking very promising.
