Okay boys,

I've been temporarily dispatched to Henderson field and spent much of the evening going through and updating almost all of the stock aircraft with Donationware, Alphasim, Akemi's, David Copley, and Thicko's models.

I have the basic mesh / Pactex installed, of course. Now come the questions...:isadizzy:

1) How is the progress on the rework / location of the stock fields coming?

2) What of Xaverb, Maskrider / Pen32Win can be installed, and what is being reworked?

3) What are some ship recommendations?

4) What about aircraft recommendations I'm missing? (Right now, I'm at 66 installed)

I know it will take a while to get up to speed for DOA, but the process has begun! :engel016:

Edit: I picked up the P-40s I was obviously lacking.

I have redone Henderson to look like it did when VMF223 under Maj. Smith landed on it in Aug of 1942.I am also going through my old missions flown from Aug through Oct 1942 to see where I can improve them.I have still got to set up the airbase data files so I can launch from 18 to 32 aircraft at the same time and have them land in the same direction they tookoff in.

Bob,

I was following your progress on Henderson earlier this year, but I lost track of it. Will you be posting it soon or are you waiting until you release you Guadalcanal campaign?

I gotta tell ya Rami, the km_P-40s are still the best flying Warhawks I have found. They also have all the skins you will need for the PTO. I know some are partial to the "hot" P-40s, but for realism, I don't see anything better than km's. But then, I am used to flying km's from the Tuskegee missions.

I have an install that uses JUST 1% as much as possible. 1% and Akemi will cover MOST of the aircraft you will need. Then get Usio's and VN's navy ships, AF landing craft, and I think you will have what you need.

I am having to redo some scenery and I want to check the missions as well. I can release the scenery and the airbase data files but I don`t think people want to use the airbase data files eventhough i have corrected the direction inwhich they takeoff and land as well as getting the AI ac to slowdown and park in a shorter distance.

I picked all of the K. Malinowski P-40s (K, M, N) as well as the P-40b and c with my modified airfile.

Devildog,

Could you direct me to some skins for the K, M, and N?

Dirtman,

I do have the FDG 'Jill,' in Japanese naming it was called the 'Tenzan.'

Okay boys,

1) How is the progress on the rework / location of the stock fields coming?

Slowly but surely, slowly but surely.

I have all the bases re-created except Emidj & Ocean Island. They need work with Ground2K to add some landfill. The gsl layer has been updated and I have a first take at re-creating the airbases.dat file, but I want to go back thru and use bobhegf's tricks so that take offs & landings occur in the same direction.

I was planning on usings Martins GSL tool to create discrete gsl files for each airbase, that way if a better airfield is released it is an easy job to remove the "stock" field. However going thru my file collection I can't find his tool. I thought I had asked him for it but I guess I will have to drop him another request.

I am off travelling on business all week (again) so god knows if I will get anything done this week.

All right, here's where I'm at as of tonight...85 aircraft installed.

Besides the Ki-21 'Sally' what else should I have, and where do I find it?

One thing that adds real life to the scenery is the TL_ Crew. You will need to adjust the hight of the figures but other than that all is fine.

Here is one of the KM skins.

P-40E A29-113 served with 77 Squadron and was coded 'U'. On November 23, 1942,
while flown by S/Ldr Dick Cresswell, this aircraft intercepted and shot down a
Japanese G4M Betty near Darwin. This was the first time an Australian pilot
was credited with shooting down an enemy aircraft over the Australian mainland.
Textures based on a colour profile and photos which appeared in Geoffrey
Pentland's 'RAAF Camouflage & Markings 1939-45 Vol 1'.
