FSX had a problem, so I threw away fsx.cfg.
Everything is fine once more, but now I'm stuck with stupid flying tips, and red viewpoint and brake messages etc. I know it was something in the fsx.cfg file but forgot what it was....can anyone help?

Should you choose to use this tweak, here's how to do it:

The flying tips are controlled by the "Show Flying Tips" box under the aircraft realism settings.

I found it:
add 'HideInfoText=1' to the [main] section in FSX.cfg, and no more zoom, brake and other messages!!

If you're still getting more messages than you like, especially on transitions, try these modifications. Not for everybody.

[Display]
ChangeTime=0.000000 //ChangeTime=4.000000
TransitionTime=0.000000 //TransitionTime=4.000000
