You'll still get a little "prop behind the clouds" issue but with a full disk that's inevitable unless you make the alpha channel so dark that the props almost disappear completely.

Wait... this is the Aero Commander ?
I thought it had severe display problems in the virtual cockpit ? I must hav tested another aircraft... Good to know then, thanks for the information, Roger ! :ernae:

Yep it's the ac520 and the vc and all gauges are fine...in Dx9 of course.

The cargo one has not been done, only the primary base models. Took 2-3 months on each one redoing the models, VC's, panels, making them more FPS friendly and replacing gauges with xml versions. Never got to the cargo versions of the 520 and 680.

If you are interested, go to the Downloads page for the Aero Commanders, look for any that speaks of FPS friendly to get the updated versions. Keep in mind that these are FS9 models and may port nicely with minor mods to FSX. And, for the record, I am not promoting that you do ports of our aircraft as it is not my intent to support any issues with FS9 aircraft in FSX.

duly noted....but they work nicely and will do well until 'someone' decides to build true FSX examples :kilroy:

I understand. Time has treated her fairly well. I know the issues, possible performance problems ect but it brings back alot of memories. I put alot of hours in that plane in FS9 in Tongass running freight in Fscargo. I have flown the real Aero Commanders and the 690 turbine setup as both recon and freight. Ive flown a alot of planes in Fs9 and X but still think your Commander is one of the sweetest handling planes and outfitted in its cargo/dirty skin also has a ton of personality.

Well, if ya keep talking like that, I may have to fix you up. :)

EDIT: Ya mean this ole thang?! LOL

Well, I loaded the AC500 Cargo version into FSX and it has some minor visual issues, not beyond repair. The gauges worked fine and I replaced the prop with Roger's. Someone stole the cargo boxes out of the yellow netting. The panel and seats are as grungy as ever. Yuck! Still a "Hangar Queen" but it runs great!

So, it has promise. :)

I'll take a look at the 680 and the 520 cargo versions as well.
Here is the 680 cargo version in the FedEx livery by none other than the infamous Bill Womack. :)

That would be one of my all time favorites. I have been waiting as long as Fscargo for FSX. Just a great all arounder. The missing gauges, interior weathering ect..... Could almost smell the fish.
I got the 520 up and running. I love the high wingers.
Thanks again.

The cargo version has a few visual issues that I may be able to quick fix. Not sure how the frame hit is either... this is an older unit that has not had the improvements the others have had.

Tonight I will try to merge the cargo components into the updated FPS-friendly version and incorporate FSX working textures.

EDIT...it works put new sound with it and Rogers prop fix flyes like a charm although if some one can help there are 2 instruments not showing up artificial horizon and direction indicator.
I tried looking for them in the panel folder to replace them with fsx working ones but to no avail.
If someone is good at this can the put it in the panel folder and send to me :)Thanks Waka172rg

Okay, I have the old cargo version in pretty decent shape correcting the visual issues, the VC panel leaks, and moved things around a bit, deleted the netting, and plugged in Roger's prop mesh bmp. I also killed a couple non-essential gauges like the OAT and moved the Flaps switch to another panel to eliminate 2 vcockpit sections for smoother performance.

I checked her out in all lighting conditions, and the gauge backlighting continues to work fine. I think this should hold you if you are interested in this port over.

I am uploading her now to my website and will post the link here when done.

I have a pretty fast computer and it drops my FPS by 6 (36 (locked) to 30) so you have a older, slower unit, it may not work well for you.

BTW, if you have any gauge issues in other Aero Commanders, if they use the ST_500.cab file, this contains the newer xml gauges and may solve your problems.

EDIT: Cargo AC500 (http://www.flightsimonline.com/downloads/ac500ca2.zip) with 3 liveries, 2 dirty, one clean, FSX Port over.

@waka172rg: I cannot do anything with teh Shrike as I do not have the source gmax code. That model was done by Paul Saunders, an apha team tester at the time. It was his first model and I acted as his mentor. He did well in spite of that. :)

Downloading now and will be getting the ol girl back in the air later. I see the mechanics havent fixed a thing. That bubble gum holding a few of the guages in ought to be good and dry by now so they shouldnt fall out after any "firm" landings. Thanks again.

Yes Yes Yes:applause:

My fav cargo/bush plane runs great and flies as good as I remember.
All I need to do is add my own touch down sounds and a rattling roll sound file and my well worn but always get ya there girl is back.

That fish in the back is starting to get funky though.

Ive been enjoying the dirty freight Commander up in Tonagass. The plane works really well in FSX.
My wish list for this aircraft. Add better interior textures along the sides. Thats really about it. Well I would like to be able to click the cargo and make it dissapear. And while you are at it......:d

what i'd really like to see is an update to the howard. i love the commanders, dont get me wrong, but theres just something about that howard that makes it awfully fun to fly again and again.. Even moreso than the dash-7

I have 2 thank yous to put out there! 1 each for Roger and Milton.

Roger's screen shot sucked me in...I downloaded and Milton made a WONDERFUL plane.
Never seen this plane before, but now I can't get enough of her...what a outstanding plane
Since I know nothing about this AC's history can anyone tell me if this AC was ever updated with thrust reverse, has anyone seen any type of updated avionics?
Just wondering..
