Has anyone else heard about this Colonial Viper simulator? http://www.game-warden.com/bsg/ This version is just a free demo, but I was wondering if anyone here has played it. It appears to be an ongoing fan-based freeware project. I just got the demo installed yesterday and it looks to be about on a level graphically with LucasArts X-Wing Alliance, or Orbiter. I've started my flight instruction on the Mark VII Colonial Viper (I'd actually have perferred the Mark II). I don't know who's doing the voices on this sim, but my instructor sounds remarkably like Katee Sackoff.

I think this is a fan-generated sim, and not for sale. The full game isn't done yet, and the makers refuse to give a release schedule. I haven't fired it up again since my first posting, but I assume you can take screenshots. Upon reflection, what this game really reminds me of (so far) is a space based version of Jane's F-18.

it is built upon an evolution of the freespace 2 engine , an incredible space shooter from the same era about as Xwing alliance and which ( if i remember correctly , became freeware last year or so ) . it looks absolutely amazing . got to try the demo now .

Just did some more flight training, Darth Stregoi, and I was coming back to tell everyone about the game engine, but you beat me to it. It does look amazing. Got to tell the CFS2 forum about this.

Here you go, Lionheart. This is me training with Starbuck; going after a Cylon Drone. So far, there's been nothing in this sim with which I'm not familiar from X-Wing Alliance. The flight model is a bit more demanding; not as demanding as Orbiter (lots of actual physicists kicking in on that sim), but they're making an effort to give you a different flight experience from a WWII fighter. The Russian "Archer" and US AMRAAM are actually more technically advanced than the Colonial missles, but it is explained in the Background that the Colonials had to abandon a lot of high-tech due do suseptibility to Cylon tampering. Seriously, though, what's cooler than flying with Starbuck!!!? She screeches at you if you don't follow her instructions!!!
