Hey Fighter Jocks,

The FSX Skyblazers are in need of a Right-Wingman to fly in the diamond. We are using the SectionF8 F-86 painted by Garry Smith in the colors of the 1956 USAFE Skyblazers.

We are looking for adult pilots only. We are serious about formation flying, and we know that it can be done in FSX (within limits). The rest of the diamond has been practicing for about a month now, and we are pretty comfortable with turns and lineups. We've also received substantial help from a member of the FSX Thunderbirds. Soon we will progress into maneuvers. I've been fortunate enough to visit on the phone with a few of the Skyblazers who flew on the '56 team, and they were very helpful in explaining the routine to me. We are trying to stay true to how they flew. If anyone is interested in flying with us, please visit our website at www.fsxskyblazers.webs.com (http://www.fsxskyblazers.webs.com)

There is a tab there where you can fill out an application. At that point, I will reply with an e-mail to set up a time where you can fly with the diamond on a cross country. This will serve as an evaluation, and a chance for everyone to get to know one another.

I look forward to hearing from some aggressive pilots, some real hunters.

Check Six,

Chris Eells

Oy, if only I could apply! I would absolutely love to do something like this. However, my real job isn't exactly regular hours, and it can keep me away from my Sim-Pit for 2-4 days at a time.

Bone,

Thanks for your interest. I think we have something real special here with the Skyblazers, something that hasn't been done before in FSX. Most teams have 6 aircraft (usually f-18s) and try to copy the maneuvers of the FSX Thunderbirds or Blue Angels. We are trying to be completely original, while staying true to the information that pilots from the Skyblazers were so generous in sharing with me.

As you probably know, FSX isn't the easiest place to fly formation in, but we've managed to get our diamond in pretty tight and not lag-out on turns by pulling less than 2.5 gs. I thought maybe a photo would be good for recruiting purposes:

That's on the back side of a wing-over. FSX Thunderbird #3 is flying the right-wing spot, but we sure would like to get an applicant from sim-outhouse to fill it full-time. Check us out on our website www.fsxSkyblazers.webs.com

I spend a lot of hours in photoshop, and plenty more looking through magazines looking for cut and pasties, and your rear, and far right look like cut and paste edits.

This may start a Flame war, but take a very close look, they are cut from the same cloth. you can see it in the drop tanks, and tail sections, how the pixels are cut off, compared to the other 2 planes.

Tim,

No need for a flame war, I agree, the screen shot does look very grainy... but I assure you that it is not photo-shopped. I suspect that it is a result of the zoom level used, we were doing this wing-over around 4 miles from the field. Let me put up some screen shots of two different 720 degree turns:

You can see more photos on our website, our #2 pilot updates them pretty regularly. I might also put some .FRC files up there of our practices... right now we are having some issues with the smoke staying on the entire .FRC. We are playing with the aircraft.cfg files to try and fix this.

Best,

Chris

The smoke in the FRC can be selected on in your options in FS Recorder. I do believe that at times when viewing in and out while the smoke is on with some systems its a tad bit laggy. I will check on it for you Chris. I know that the first time around FS Recorder did not have the ability to record smoke. Then Jimi on our end threw the guy some cash and next thing you know it records smoke now lol.

Here is a link to the first video released by the FSX Skyblazers. It is a compilation of a few practices. We still need a right wingman, so if you want to fly with us, then please apply. Enjoy!
