How about some of you guys that find good deals on thirty inch monitors post where ya found it at and who has got it. A link would be fine, that way we can all read about it and see what the user comments are. If the Apple doesn't make it ...we can go to another and let the members decide which one. I got to thinking about it last night and the way I was handling it is not really being fair to our members because it is not my money to do what I want to do with it. Sorry about that part guys and gals...sometimes Moe is pig headed...lol...Mike

Mike, I still think your wish to go for the Apple-monitor is the right one. If Ickie is going to look at that screen a long time, it's paramount that he gets the best panel we can find, if only to preserve his eyesight. Sure it's more expensive than your "regular" LCD-monitor, but that's because it is built with a different (more professional and continued) use in mind.

I'd say we "shoot for the moon and see if we can get an apple":icon_lol:.

Mike I don't think you need to apologize for trying to get the best for Ickie. There are plenty of *******s like me who will put up an argument if we think it isn't in everyone's best interest. :)

As I said in the earlier thread, I think we need to look at the overall value. I still question how much of the Apple price is value and how much is profit to Steve Jobs. I have just recently going through the process of researching and purchasing a large screen HDTV.

My wife and I looked at a lot of screens of the various brands and types, i.e. LCD vs, Plasma. It came down to a subjective decision between Samsung and Sony. There was not a whole lot of difference in the pictures of the various brands.

If my experience with the TVs is similar to a large screen monitor, which I think it is; I think we need to let Ickie make the decision, within the resources we can raise. In other words, renew the drive, set a time limit, then let Ickie look at monitors and decide which he prefers. He can then get the monitor he like, within the amount of money we can raise.

I think you will get more money if you present it like that than wanting to buy some pie-in-the-sky super monitor that cost as much as a fully equipped FSX computer.

Just my opinion.

John, most of professional people who take a lot of pictures use a Apple monitor because of it's performance and true color. As far as I am concerned Apple Photo editing and monitors are the best on the market for doing this. But one of the best thing is it is the best for reading and viewing. Some colleges and schools use the Apple towers and monitors because of the great features. I am by far not a know it all on monitors, but can only compare this to Linda's Apple monitor and from what I have seen on the market and some of my customers houses. Every customer I have asked about what they think of the 30 inch Apple monitor have raved about it and how easy it is on your eyes and other features it offers. Sometimes I have found that the reviews that are posted on different sites are from the dealers themselves. When at a customers house I can get it straight from the horses mouth..lol...look at the bright side of it....if Ickie don't wants it we can have an auction in here for the highest bidder... he..he..he :monkies:

Uphere, I think Samsung is #1 in monitors and close to the top in t.v.s. The apple brand is not seen much around here. The store where I go even keeps them away from the other monitors. The other day was the first time I even noticed them. Only 3; 20, 24, 24. At work we have a NIC. It has a real glass screen and has the best display I have ever seen. I do not know if they even still make monitors or how much they cost, but it sure looks good. I have the feeling that everyone who can donate, has. I can send a bit more, but, like a kid at Christmas, I just can't wait to have a nice monitor sitting in front of Ickie!

PS Jmig; We have 2 sony lcd 60". No complaints after 4 yrs. When we bought them, they had a feature where you could just change a lamp after 17yrs, and be just like new again. We have 2 because 6 mos. after we bought the 1st one, we saw another for half the price.

Great idea, srgalahad! Has any bought a refurb? If you can buy a coverage plan, do you have the all the protection you would have with a new unit? If it is as good as new, sounds great! Is it hard to get your hands on one? If these apples are as good as everyone says, they might get snapped up right away. Maybe a waiting list? Money wise, I think we are just about at this price. Could this be the answer to our prayers?
