View Full Version : White flashes?

I have (after 18 months tweaking) the most stable FsX install to date. I completely reconfigured my cfg and Nvidia control panel with the advent of Nvidia's 190.38 drivers but I now have one problem that is new to me.
I get occasional white flashes usually in the lower part of the screen, that seem to be scenery tiles or part of tiles losing texture for an instant. I have 4 gigs of 1600 meg ram and the fix to make windows use as much of that 4 gig as possible and I'm in Dx9 mode.

Any pointers greatfully received.

Roger, some have reported this same problem with the 190 series driver, have you tried installing one of the 180 series driver to see if that would stop it.

Hi Moe,
I had 180 drivers previously and in most respects the 190.38 are better, so I'd like to keep 'em if I can sort these flashes.

Well a combination of a new FsX.cfg and the leaked beta 190.40 (http://www.toomanydownloads.com/) seems to have done the trick.

Interestingly my FsX.cfg is now almost default with the 190.40 drivers except for:
TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120

no buffer pools entry at all now.

and it's the smoothest I've ever had FsX. It seems that the drivers finally caught up with the sim.:engel016:

It also happens on ATI cards. I have a gig 4870 and tried a 4890 and I get flashes. I ran Nvidia only up until sp2 and noticed both Nvidia and ATI suffer the same graphic anomolies and general wierdness. Ive made peace with FSX and accept it for what it is.
