There is one for FS2004, will it work in FSX? Is there more aerobatic aircrafts from 20s to 50s ?

I have tried to search them but didn't find anything.

Thanks.

Yes, Oliver Fischer's Jungmann works well in FsX (Dx9 only of course). Some alpha work on the prop was required but otherwise it's a great port-over with good framerates.

Yes, it's definitely one of the greatest-looking port-overs ever ! This plane is just magnificient, so is its virtual cockpit ! A must-have in FSX, in my opinion.

Roger, exactly what did you do to the prop alpha?

Usually in port overs, darkening the prop alpha helps. Great looking bird I must say:applause:

Actually, after installing and flying around KPDX for a while, I saw nothing wrong with the prop. Beautiful airplane and really a lot of fun to fly. . .thanks for the HU.

Yep as bushpilot said, I darkened the prop alpha right down. If you want a copy of mine, pm me with an e-mail address and I'll send you the prop texture. Another thing the mdl will accept reflective alphas (rather than transparent as often happens when trying to "shine" a port-over texture) so I enhanced the metal cowling with some dark alphas.

Ok Roger, think I may give that a try. Man this is quite a little jewel, beautifully done and great fun to fly. . .nice sounds as well. Thanks!

The only portover, that looks better with acceleration, with SP1 I had no
windshilds.
But it`s the only plane I´m unable to create thumbnails with autothumbnail v2. Bücker a version is ok, but when I try the b versions,
autothumbnail stopps FSX, or even crashes, says it can`t find the path!
I can´t find the problem... did anyone came across this?
Any hints apreciated!

cheers, Thilo

I have the same problem. For this aircraft I took screenshots and resized them to use as thumbnails.

I don't understand anything about those alpha channels. Could somebody do them ready to download (and send maybe email) or do tutorial how to dark them. So we can do it by ourselves in future.

I can tell you for starters that if you don't already have this you'll need it to do any manipulation of the textures and that's DXTbmp and can be downloaded here:
http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/
On that page you'll see two rows of icons, on the lower row about halfway over you'll see one labeled DXTbmp, click on that and it'll take you to a page where you can download it.
Get that installed (pretty simple really) and in the meantime, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll put together a quick "how to" to post here.

I just checked and IMO prop looks okay, so it's not even necessary to tweak it with this particular model. Of course it's a matter of tastes. Usually it's needed when portover's prop is like opaque disc.

Roger
August 4th, 2009, 11:45
I do it because I usually fly with a layer of cumulous and cirrus at high level. The prop-behind-the-clouds issue is what causes me to always darken the alpha.

bushpilot
August 4th, 2009, 12:17
You got point there, prop behind clouds can look ugly:kilroy:.

Anyways it's a gorgeous plane, if I didn't know any better, I would have guessed it being a native FSX bird, the model looks so good.:ernae:

You definitely NEED the updated flightmodel for this buecker!!! It's available at flightsim.com. (bu3torqr.zip (http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=116267))
It transforms this plane into a GREAT aerobatics plane.
I even took part in the virtual aerobatics championship with this superb plane and I was able to keep up with the extras, edges etc.... (2nd in freestyle)!

I am having a blast flying all over Oregon with this beautiful airplane and apparently there are a lot of us who have either just discovered it or have had it for some time now, so I'll see if anyone has noticed the same things I have:
The start button is animated in the VC but doesn't start the airplane.
The panel light switch is animated in the VC but doesn't turn on the lights
Seems like there's something else too but I don't remember what it is right now. Since this is a portover, those things aren't any real surprise so for night flights I just pull out my flashlite to read the gauges and I have a button on my joystick that's programed for autostart so that isn't a really worry either.
Was there a fix for these things or has anyone come up with one in the interim?

August 7th, 2009, 00:59
Hi,
The engine starts for me. Prime it twice then press the starter and away it goes. Just check this value normalized_starter_torque= 0.300

Vc lights use a special fx and as I don't normally place Fs9 fx in my FsX install just renaming them to the FsX default vc light works.

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit
light.0=4, -3.50, 0.00, 1.70, fx_vclight
light.1=4, -1.20, 0.00, 1.70, fx_vclight

Cheers,

Roger.

Gonna check out the tweaks you just posted Roger. . .as for the prop, I looked at the texture and alpha and the alpha appears to be almost as dark as it can get, was it the alpha or the texture that you darkened?

UPDATE: The tweaks in the light section worked perfectly. . .thanks, as for the enging start button. . .no joy. . . .I primed it several times, moved the mixture lever forward, hit the start button (which shows it being depressed) and the engine sits quietly waiting, lol. I hit the autostart button on the joystick and it comes to life.

Roger
August 7th, 2009, 08:09
It was the alpha that I darkened until almost invisible. That way no hiding props behind clouds. Re the starter have you got some missing gauges?

Missing gauges, nope. . .I just put it thru FSPanel Studio and everything seems to be in order. Not that big a deal really since I have the autostart setup. I'll work the alpha for the prop though, thanks Roger.

Since I have never flown the Bucker Jungmann, nor has anyone else in here that I am aware of, I found nothing wrong with the stock aircraft. For me, as long as the airspeed fits within the specs, rolls and turns are done within the range I would expect for the control surfaces, airspeed and weight of the airplane, I'm satisfied.

Not ragging on or criticizing you or anyone else necessarily, I've just always found it interesting that people who have never flown or flown in most of the airplanes we "fly" in flightsim can still say "it just doesn't feel right". Aside from the F-16, I've never flown in the majority of the airplanes we hop into every day here, that's why I am happy with the way these airplanes fly. Now after flying the Bucker for 6 months and then someone else comes along with a better version and the flight dynamics are "different", then I could say with some limited experience that the newer version "feels different", but I couldn't state even then that based on the original aircraft, it doesn't feel right, because I don't know for sure.

Ok, I'm done and off the soapbox. I love the airplane and fly it every day around Oregon and Washington. . .love it, even if it is just a portover.

falcon409
August 7th, 2009, 11:04
I just wanted expand on this a tad bit more with an example: Years ago when Cloud9 came out with their F-4 Phantom, tested by the way by a Navy F-4 pilot and decorated Vietnam Vet, there were actually people questioning the flight dynamics of the aircraft. They admitted to having never flown the airplane, not ever even flying in one and had only what they had read to go by, but still vehemently protested that "this can't be right" or "are you sure this is how that should function" and the old standby, "this just doesn't feel right", lol.
Truthfully, not many developers have access to a seasoned pilot, with years of background in the airplane they're building to help in the beta testing and so all they have to go on is the data available to them, which could range from volumes to scant few pages, the airwrench program, ACM program and a few others to tweak and test until, based on the FSX or FS9 engine and it's limitations, they have a best possible airfile and acft config file. It's a frustrating task to have an airplane you've only seen in books or on TV, fly like the real thing or at least as close as possible to the real thing.
The guys who build the airplanes we love to fly, do an amazing job, we all appreciate the hard work it takes to get it in the air so we can fly to our hearts content and imagine what it would have been like. . .really.

It says do the white areas and i cant decide if the lighter areas are gray or not. Thanks in advance for your help.

My flight instructor, low many years ago, had a Bucher Jungmeister, which he had bought from Ernie Gahn, who had bought it from Mira Slovak, a well known aerobatic pilot of the 60's. His plane had a horizontally opposed six cylinder engine for considerably more power than the original. The Bucher was in fact fairly easy to fly, as a primary trainer should be. He later went to a Pitts S2 as it was a smaller and lighter aircraft for competition. Not easy to fly......

I wish somebody would convert this FS9 plane to FSX format, so that I could use it in Prepar3D....
Actually, this Bucker was on of the nicest models I had in my hangar, and in FSX it was working beautifully.
However, in P3D, the virtual cockpit is not clickable anymore, which means I can't use that plane anymore.

The same sad problem occurs with Manuelle's excellent planes (mgv3D). Their VCs are fantastic, but unusable in P3D :'(

Got it installed today, added the FM fix an a couple of repaints - very very nice! A pity that Oliver has left the scene I would say.

Will be flying this one quite a bit more the next few days, really a delightful little plane.

Stupid question (I've no idea whatsoever about modelling ac for FSX): is the 'source' available for this one? I.e. the 3D model etc? Or has Oliver taken that with him?

Speaking of file 'buecker_131_v.2.zip' - being an auto exec it can't seem to find my D\FSX path to install. Though the default path is for FS9, I specify my path during install but the closest it gets is C\Users\Dave\My Documents and even then it's still an .exe file.

It's not worth linking right to FlightSim.com's Search Page because the searchid is a variable i.e. it changes over time. Instead link right to the file download or View-page from where you allways can get back (using [back] link) to the right search and download page.

I have a similar setup - mine is E:\FSX. I just let the installer create the path to C:\Program files\Microsoft Games etc. Then I went there, renamed the 'Aircraft' folder to 'Airplanes' and copied it back to E:\FSX\SimObjects and the Effects folder back to E:\fsx - worked a treat.

I have a similar setup - mine is E:\FSX. I just let the installer create the path to C:\Program files\Microsoft Games etc. Then I went there, renamed the 'Aircraft' folder to 'Airplanes' and copied it back to E:\FSX\SimObjects and the Effects folder back to E:\fsx - worked a treat.Did for me too - thanks.
