View Full Version : Warning! A Pirate!

This is my other project, almost completed. I hope it's about two weeks to release. This is Polish sailplane SZD-30 Pirat (Pirate in English ;) )

This project is a bit more advanced than it seems, some1 wrote a wonderful winch that works without any fake-engines. It is still a regular glider, it is possible to use a tow plane, but alternatively you can start a flight with a winch. It's almost ready, I have to finish textures, add few geometry details, animate pilots arm, and tune flight dynamics. Hope you like it :)

Freeware of course. Two weeks, be sure.

Hey Empeck-
I clicked on the link to your site and found the English one

How is the Jenny for FSX SP2?

And do you have an English version of the Forum?
Rick

Check The Good Guys Catalogue (https://www.ladysavings.com/publix-weekly-ad/?good-guys/) and goldmark Catalogue (https://www.ladysavings.com/publix-weekly-ad/?goldmark/).

This baby is a blast. The VC (Empeck still hasn't shown you the overall detail) is incredible, equal to the panel quality. And thanks to Some1, the addon has a working glider winch, where you can set such parameters as speed or force. She is worth waiting and the relase should be pretty close.

Thanks guys :)

Our winch is very similar to Peters one, but simpler. We did only winch simulation, without visuals. Our winch is available from 2d panel, and it's loaded as gauge, not external application.

Flyboy208 - you've confused me with some1 - Iskra is his baby, I'm making PZL-130 TC-I Orlik.

3. Is there going to be a yaw string?

Will you fit her with Wolgang Piper's winch launch facility? I prefer winches (and have a reasonable amount of RW launches in my logbook, albeit a long time ago) to aero-tows.

With that amount of instruments, I think a 'string' would only be retro-fitted by the individual owner, if he was of the 'old school' of gliding.

I hope this aircraft will get more people into the gliding aspect of FSX, it really is one of the best improvements MS have made with the sim.

some1
August 27th, 2009, 00:46
Acutally it has its own simple winching tool, but of course you can use Wolfgang's winch too if you want.

empeck

Thanks guys. We have another nice feature in Pirat :)

Left variometer is not a simple gauge like in the default glider, but a total energy variometer.

smithcorp
August 27th, 2009, 04:37
Ah, i was just jumping in to ask that very question about the left vario with the MacCready ring - does it work in the sim - it seems to be pegged at zero in Nick's latest shots (great shots too Nick)?

I'm really looking forward to this glider and thanks for your efforts in making it as freeware - I'm sure I speak for others when I say I appreciate it very much.

I found there's two Pirats still flying it seems in Australia. I've never seen one in real life, but it's a pretty ship.

One final thing - that pilot sure looks surly to be flying such a nice ship. When I'm up in a glider you can't wipe the smile off my face!

Carenado is one of the devs that have always seemed to have a darker tint, which has always spoilt it for me. It's like all the colors are washed out and dull.

I agree. This looks absolutely stunning, but in the screenshots from the VC, the glass does seem a bit dark. That may, of course, be realistic, but I fly gliders in FS for sightseeing as well as practice. When the canopy is too dark, it ruins the scenery. Since there is no painful solar glare in FS, I think the tinting could be backed off a bit. That's just my opinion, though, and this glider looks magnificent anyway. Thanks for sharing it with us! :icon29:

guzzi
August 27th, 2009, 08:44
The yaw string is the most important instrument on a glider - in 30 years of RL gliding/soaring I have yet to see a glider/sailplane without one! The actual instrument fit is fairly basic when compared to most modern sailplanes.
Great looking model though. I wish someone would start to model some of the latest 'real life' hotships i.e. Ventus 2, ASG-29, JS-1, LS-10, SZD-56-2, though, like Condor does.I know Aerosoft are doing the Discus -but this is a 25 year old design! (VINTAGE!)
