...as it's been awhile. My old PC crashed, but I saved most everything and copied it over to my new box. Right now, I just have a few of questions;

1) With the new install, there was a drive designation change. As such, there are some sceneries that aren't found on start up. I went into the scenery config file and changed all the paths from E, the old drive, to D, the new drive. Yet, I still get the error alerts on start up. Is there another file I have to rename the paths at?

2) This new box is a Monster machine, thanks to Harleyman and txnetcop. Here are the specs;

I haven't overclocked it yet, it was actually built for FSX, but I'm waiting for one more drive to install that on, but I'm running it on Win7 with all of the sliders maxed out to the right, except water effects, because it only allows me to max out land and water or just water, not both.

Anyway, I get alot of shimmer from the trees and some terrain textures. I also have in MSFS the anti-aliasing set to trilinear. I'm not sure what display settings I should use.

3) Also, I have a widescreen monitor now. It's great for external viewing, but I hate the stretched out panels. If I set the game resolution for a "standard" res, can I maximize it so it limits itself in the vertical direction and doesn;t stretch it horizontally, so the panels aren;t stretched, or do I just have to adjust the window manually for that? I am running FS in window mode.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I don't know anything about wide monitors but I can tell you about shimmering. It drives me crazy. You should get nhancer and set aa to combined 8xS. Then leave aa unchecked in the sim. AA and trilinier are two different things. Also set anisotropic to 8x or 16x in nhancer. That will allow you to see detail out more than a few miles. That drove me crazy for months until I figured it out.

I'll second what rich says: get Nhancer, set up a profile for FS9, and run it full-screen.
If you still get shimmer, crank down MIPS a notch or 3.
Windowed mode uses the Windows default driver settings which are horrible.

I run a 24" main display: you'd be surprised how quickly you adapt to oval gauges - heck in real life you'd be looking down at gauges, slightly oval!
Many newer 2D panels offer 16:9 options too.

As to the error alerts, assume its only certain items?
Sometimes (especially payware) sceneries install at several locations so best to re-install.

Nice machine...don't throw FS9 away, you may be in for a treat when you come back here and load it to the gills. (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=17302)

I'm definitely not throwing FS9 away, I've got too much money invested in it, with add on planes and sceneries, which is where I get the alerts. I have them all listed and can re-install them, I was just trying to avoid that, but you have to do what you have to do. I forgot I can run maximum AI now, whereas before, I always had it turned off. I have every intention of loading it to the gills!:mixedsmi:

I'll definitely check out Nhancer. Thanks!

The first place to check out "straight copy overs" left over drive designations is in the Windows System Registry. Everytime you "install" something in Windows, a "path" designation is set in the registry. That's why it's not such a great idea to just copy to a new machine, but rather do a new full install! Also, you might want to check in the fs9.cfg file to see if there any path designations there as well!
