I have the Hurricanes and the Wellingtons as well and feel the same way about them. This Hawker Package includes the anti-tank Hurries to add to the earlier package. The one downfall "which befuddles me" is the Typhoon. It is obviously done by someone else and was the worst shock I have had in a long time. It does not belong in this package, for it is absolutely hiddeous....compared to the other aircraft. It looks to be an AI Model with a somewhat decent VC.

Thank you for posting that. I wonder who is Firebug Studio's. I never heard of them. Danial D and I both did that Tempest. I did the external model and he did the rest. According to my contract, my name should be in the manual. Well at least I got paid, so im happy with at least that. Still not cool though.

It is a shame that you cannot buy them as single aircraft!

That external shot of the Fury looks great, but I not sure that they were fitted with cheap 1970's foam seats! They had a bucket seat, like all aircraft of that time, to allow the pilot to sit on his parachute. The camo is not correct either, the Fury's were painted up in camo after the Munich Crisis in 1938, but not as shown in the screen shot.

My late father worked as 16 year old trainee electrician at RAF Tangmere in 1936 and talked fondly of watching the Fury's aerobatic displays from No1 and 43 Sqn, they often looped tied together with 'bunting' to practice for the annual Air Pageant at Hendon.

That definitely looks like one addon pack to attract a painter.

Now...D-Day was three white two black - each equally wide at 18" (single engine), Typhoons and Tempests also had "anti-mistaken identity" stripes underwing - four 12" black, three 24" white.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_stripes

So what was designated by the nine alternating stripes on this one? First time I have seen and now I am piqued...

Just curious.

P.S. at any owner: are these full FSX - to my own thoughts and wishes - i.e. do they have full spec and bump textures?

All are full FSX

fury, hurri and tempest have spec and bumps. However only the Fury is worth dealing with, allthough the hurri and tempest might be better with new skins .... the typhoon needs more than a skin change to make it apealing to me i'm afraid :engel016:

Just a guess, squadrons painted alternating stripes on the aircraft prior to the D-Day invasions because of the similarity of profiles to the FW-190.

Well - just bought it for FS9 (I have FSX, but my system is not really up to the strain - I can fly FSX clean with no trouble, but any more complex mods push my poor system over the edge, so FSX is now uninstalled!)

This is a nice package in FS9, not great. Not worth the $41 I paid for it, but maybe worth $30...
The Typhoon is trash. Poor quality, very low poly graphics. The exterior is even slightly transparent, as if the model developer mishandled the materials and failed to add reflections to the model. The modelling is inaccurate in some ways, poorly detailed, and clumsily executed. The texturing is the same. It is a comfort to know that it was not made by the same team as did the rest of the package, because the difference in quality is enormous.

The Tempest is for me the star of the package. It has a great deal of liveries included, some of which are niceish. I do agree it would benefit from some better textures. The VC is up to the developers usual high standards, and includes more clickablilty than is usual for his FS9 models. It is also, however, as usual, rather dark, and the anemic VC lighting does not help much in visibilty.

The Hurricane is almost as nice as the Tempest. It shares many of the same good points and bad points. It is definitely a new model, not merely an inclusion or even an update to the modellers older Hurricane that is sold as a separate package by Abacus and others. However, as I have the wonderful SU Hurricane package, I feel no need to keep this aircraft.

The Fury is very nice in FS9, as well. However, it proved rather disappointing, especially as the wing-ribs, so prominently displayed in all the screenshots, are not present in the FS9 model, except in a somewhat half-hearted attempt at shading in the textures. The terrible effects of polygon stripping are unfortunately noticeable in many other aspects of the model, as well, the nose and the VC seat in particular appearing somewhat blocky.

I worked with Danial directly, through E-mail. I honestly though it was going to be sold on Alpha Sim.

Still, this looks like a great product, well worth the asking price for just the Fury and Tempest alone, but the Typhoon is in desperate need of some work in my opinion. The Hurri also looks like a nice model, but not quite to the level of the Fury or Tempest.

The Hawker Heroes Hurricane nav lights are on and off with the landing lights which is probably realistic in wartime.

The older FCS Hurri pack has no nav lights so here's some placement info for them:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 4, -1.50, -0.00, 2.00, fx_vclight
light.1 = 3, 2.00, -19.80, -1.35, fx_navred
light.2 = 3, 2.00, 19.80, -1.35, fx_navgre
light.3 = 3, -22.65, 0.00, 2.00, fx_navwhi

There have been a few aircraft in the past where that has been a real issue like the A2A B17 which they rectified but I don't see this as an issue in the Fury. Looking from above the pilot couldn't afford to be much wider or else you'd need a can opener to get him out! Also the look of the pilot and his posture seem awfully realistic to me.

Rog, these are spectacular pix, and I am really having a hard time resisting the purchase (like most things, I think I will wimp out and buy them). The Fury is gorgeous.

Looks like the Fury alone would be pretty good at that price, from the screenshots, just think as the others as free in that case, sort of a bonus! Nice shots Roger! :ernae:

Thank you for light entries Roger!

I've been slowly working on a repaint for the Tempest. She sure is a beauty and very, very well constructed!

Since this pics were taken, I have fixed the paint in the front under the spinner.

That looks spectacular Rob, I can't wait to see it when it's finished. I've been desperate for a "clean" warbird-esque repaint for the Tempest for quite some time now.

I just cannot believe the difference between Rob H's fuselage and the stock paint on the wings. I really hope you will be kind enough to upload this when you've finished, great job.

I was a bit late in buying this package, but WOW, that Fury is great!!!

as for the rest of the package, the Hurricane and Tempest are nice, though the textures are too shiny for me, and the weathering on the Tempest seems a bit over the top, but nice models.
What that Typhoon is doing in the package, I don't know?

But that Fury.....

I admit I've used the flight tuning section to reduce elevator and aileron effectiveness to 0.5...just seemed a little twitchy.

Oh Yes she's a beauty! She is overpowered though. Set take off power and you're off the ground within ...10 secs...
I trimmed down the ailerons and elevator effectiveness as Roger did too.

Anyways, the Fury is worth the money! :applause:

Nice shots Jankees by the way !

Hi People
being interested in buying this product just for the Tempest I'd like to know 2 things about the model.
I've seen some pics of the plane parked\engine off so i wondered
1)as far as i know the sabre rotated anti-clockwise, so why the prop is rotated clockwise?am i thinking wrong or there is a mistake in the prop pitch?
2)even if the prop pitch is correct and the sabre rotates clockwise (?) why the worn part of the prop is the trailing edge and not the leading edge?

Please don't consider this as a "rivet-counter" issue since to me it is quite important to know in which direction the engine turns to counter the torque

Hi Ianf77,

The issue could well be a visual error on my part, however it should only be visual and will not affect the flight model.

I don't think I'm going to buy the plane, I thought at least a patch was released to fix the problem.........
Anyway, thanks again

Hi Ian,

A patch can only be released if one is aware of the issue- nobody had yet bought the issue to the concern of FCS, therefore no patch [yet].
