Ok I am having a really weird problem with FSX right now when I load certain aircraft or repaints, the textures are shiny black in some areas or all over the aircraft but this does not happen with all aircraft.

Are you using all FSX native??

Are you using DX10 or bloom?

If you forget to put an alpha channel in a texture, it will do that too, I know, LOL :ernae:

Have you got the texture .cfg in the folder?

This is above me I'm affraid..

BUT...I have seen this before, but do not know the fix...But someone here does...Try and be patient....It will come

Have you tried a FSX repair or rebuilding your FSX config?

Wingmate

I have not tried that but I will thank you.

Is there any chance that you by accident changed from say 32 bit color to 16 bit ? Or 24 bit?

This is of no help probably, but as bananabob said it looks like an issue with the alpha. I resized some textures a while back, and I accidentally messed with a reflective texture for glass. All the windows on the plane looked like the skin of yours does. Could your problem have something to do with your envmap, or another global texture perhaps?
You should probably try a repair from your FSX disk.

I do not believe that it is an issue with alpha as only certain repaints have been messed up and all were working fine a few days before. As for changing the color I have not been into the control panel for a long time and every time I start flight sim my computer automatically changes the color settings. I am currently in the process of repairing FSXA

Well I hope it works....

Hey Wingmate,

You're not alone!!!! :icon_lol:

I've the same problem with the texture HD. (Goose, C182RG and Bell 206)

http://nsa07.casimages.com/img/2009/07/14/090714095711113100.jpg (http://www.casimages.com)

The texture work on day and a day after I've a Silver plane.^^

I've an GTX280 and i'm not running DX10....

PS/ If I wait a part minutes after choosing my plane, the HD paint is perfect!
In my opinion the graphic card muss loading the texture. (4096X4096 is a lot of works...)

OK...Now I have seen this..

Are you using any of those new fangled tweaks ...???

Its the bufferpoole tweak...

I used it once and it did this same thing....

Wingmate
July 31st, 2009, 18:52
What should it be set at or should it just be removed from the cfg altogether?

harleyman
July 31st, 2009, 19:37
All I know is thats what it did to me real bad...I used the tweak for 2 minutes, long enough to see my textures like that...

Take it out and see what things look like..

I thin k that tweak has more success on th i7 X58 rigs...

Wingmate

Removing the tweak did not work any other ideas?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Man...Its getting tougher now..

Try to see your ram ussage

Load FSX..Windows mode...Minimize the window.

Open Task Manager.... Select performance..Check your Memory stats( Physical ).......

Then look at Page file...

See if any of those look off...

Do you get any OOM errors ever ?

Wingmate
August 1st, 2009, 15:29
Well this is what I got I do not know what is value would be off so and what is an OOM I know what OOS's are but not OOM's

OOM Out Of Memory..

Have you adjusted your page file ???

Are your screenshots above with FSX running in the same window???

Wingmate
August 1st, 2009, 15:46
I could not find a page file so I opened the resource monitor instead and FSX is minimized

harleyman
August 1st, 2009, 15:50
Your page file is showing...

You need FSX on the desktop and flying a flight..i use auto pilot for this..

Then you need to open Task manager next to it...

Once device mananger is opened you will have to click in the FSX screen and get it flying again...Opening Task Manager next to FSX will pause FSX and not show ram usage.. So you need both showing on the desktop side by side...

Hopefully I explained it better...

harleyman

Man...I just noticed you have 151 processes running..

You needs to clean out that computer of its junk too..

It also looks like your page file is set funny.

Wingmate
August 1st, 2009, 15:59
Alright I think I got it this time
and I have never had OOM's then

harleyman

I just noticed that you are only running 2 gigs ram..And its allmost maxed out in usage..that with all your backgroung processes running I think may be causing this..You should typically have about 45 processes at the most running..You have 152...

It may just be that you have maxed out your machines memory
potential...

Have you set in the FSX config texture max load from 512...1024..to over 4,000 ? ( not at a FSX computer now and think its called that....)

Wingmate
August 2nd, 2009, 05:41
my texture max load is 4096 and I havent cleaned out the useless stuff siting around on my computer for a while ill try that

harleyman
August 2nd, 2009, 05:55
I would return that value back to 512 and test.......

Use CCLeaner to clean your computer...

It will toss out all your log on cookies unless you know how to save them...If you want a tutortial to do that I can help there too..

After its cleanes..DEFRAGG all drives..Twice..LOL

What defragger you using??????

Wingmate
August 2nd, 2009, 06:04
I just finished emptying the recycle bin and got rid of 16 GB's and now the planes work again but I think I will DEFRAG and clean the drives too as for the defrager I do not know what ever the default one is.

Thanks for all your help:ernae:

I'd be interested in that. I can't always see the difference between session cookies and ad/spyware.

Wingmate..

I use IOBIT Defragger....

http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html?Str=download

I just defragg with it..Never optimize the drives function...

Wingmate
