Dear folks!

Can't get enough of those Maple Leaf aircraft!

Uploaded to Flightsim and the Outhouse.

Although there's already a (FS2002) rendition of the Cosmo done, I was in the mood to do a more contemporary one from scratch.
A decent alpha layer, fine-scale markings and custom panel lines are included.

Have fun with this bird!

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks, guys!

Just popped over from Calclassic's:
Tom has updated the 580 once again.
"The CV-580 now sounds a bit louder at full throttle, has 4 blurred prop blades at medium rotation speeds, and takes a little longer for the props to stop."

And I screwed up my SOH upload:
Didn't check the correct category (repaints), so she might be found at the "other" files - sorry for that... :isadizzy:
And please don't mind the angle of the lightning bolt in my first screenie. Meanwhile it's corrected, as the second pic shows.

Canada Day?
Pure coincidence...
I must confess that I didn't know that before.
Just rolling through wikipedia to learn more about it...

Happy / Jolie Canada Day / Fête du Canada / Dominon Day / Jour de la Confédération to all you Canucks out there! :canada:

Coming up soon:

Note the added rivet lines - the grey belly just seemed a little too boring without them...

Markus,

Did Canada have these before the unification of their Armed Forces? I was thinking how great this would look with the old flag and Royal Canadian Air Force markings.

The Cosmo did indeed bear the Red Ensign and double lightning bolt scheme
http://www.rcaf.com/aircraft/transports/cosmo/index.php?name=Cosmopolitan

and right after unification a 'new' or interim scheme was also used but it only lasted a short while
-- with two variations (note the "Canada" name/logo above the stripe):

and one or more went on to serve further south

Thanks, mate!

I must confess that I didn't test her at dusk/night/dawn because I didn't change anything around the night texturing (such as 'cv580right_L.bmp').
I'll check this!

The pic of the RCAF Cosmo (double bolt, red ensign) shows the former version with the Napier Eland engines. Its distinctively different nacelles won't fit to the Allison-powered CV-580 model.

I haven't found any pic of the combination Allison/RCAF, but I got used to having one or two nice pics to start my repaints from. If someone would find a good picture of the desired version, I'd certainly roll her into the paint shack again!

Cheers,
Markus.

OK, I re-aligned those night lit windows - I think it's better now:

My 'grey belly' version of CC-109 151 is almost ready, so I'll release a package containing:

- complete set for 109 151
- night lighting fix
- updated 'blank metal belly' textures (109 156) with additional rivet lines.

Should be up this weekend.

Thank you again for your remark, t.creed ! :ernae:

Thanks, Maarten!

Yours is the 'interim' scheme Galahad mentioned above. Don't know why they pasted this very odd roundel on the bolt...
The 'double bolt' is so much nicer. I still hope that someone could retrieve a photo.

The last glitches on 151 were ironed out (I hope...) so she soon will be ready for packing:

Dangit!
While posting this pic, I noticed that the door's lower edge still carries a wrong outline. :banghead:
I can't declare this as dirt stains - on a V.I.P. transport!
Have to clear this up.
But not today...

Stay tuned.

Also note that there were about 3 "interim" schemes... red/wht/red roundel , red/wt/blue roundel, text: Royal Canadian Air Force, Canada, Canada with flag over last "a"

The most unique was the r/w/r roundel as that only lasted a few weeks IIRC.

There she goes:

Should be available at flightsim and SOH soon.
Night lighting fix for CC-109 156 included!

Prop warning marks, propblades and door framing improved:

Next in line will be the Swissair CV-440 Metropolitan...
