It says in news-section that SOH got hacked. Those sick b*stards again...

BananaBob
June 30th, 2009, 06:03
I wonder if they were stealing all our passwords while we were trying to get in? Man I hope not.

bushpilot
June 30th, 2009, 06:05
I hope those are properly encrypted...

June 30th, 2009, 06:24
Sheesh, guys. If you see an out-of-place login prompt like that, DON'T put your login into it! That was the first thing I thought of, that some choad was trying to scam credentials. It pays to be highly suspicious.

June 30th, 2009, 06:26
Like everyone else (I hope!) I didn't enter anything and went straight for the AV scanner.

When I saw this phoney sign asking me to sign in and what's my password I got really suspicious so ignored it. I figured that Ickie would solve it and by golly he did. Thank you Ickie.

Jim

Pretty obvious... if you use the SAME password elsewhere too... then CHANGE IT there TOO... becasue THAT is what these people are really after. They don't give a hoot about your SOH login :isadizzy:

BananaBob
June 30th, 2009, 07:07
Well, I changed my password, I was stupid enough to fall for it, I'd like to know who it is too.

harleyman
June 30th, 2009, 07:07
I changed my pass word and e mail addy..

But it did not take it seems..I can still log on with my old password..

it also said it banned my e mail addy, bit I don't think it really did..

Am looking into it now...

So..Double check if you changed your password and see if it really did change by logging out and back in with your old password to see if its still active..

Ickie
June 30th, 2009, 07:09
do not change your email addy, just your password

harleyman
June 30th, 2009, 07:10

Luckily I use a different password for everything and I keep my little black book in the safe behind me in this room where I write every password for every site I got to, it has served me well over the years :)

I really fooled those hackers.
I entered my user name at the prompt, and then ...
the Wrong Password! Hah!
And I also only use one password for everything, including banking and stuff.
So it's really easy to change when something like this happens.
It used to be supacalafrajalisticexpialidocious99, but I've changed it...to Fred.

This really should be a wake up for all members. We have a lot of security on this site. For what little bit of security ya have on your computer if a hacker tries hard enough he can still crack your system. Hackers aren't interested in wasting time hacking into one computer. They are more interested in see how much damage they can do and what large amount of accounts and passwords they can steal. Then we also have trekkies who love to trash a site and deface the site just for the hell of it. The only time you are 100% safe on your computer is to unplug the Internet, as soon as you jump on the Internet you are fair game to any hacker....sucks huh. :isadizzy:

I haven't visited since (see below), logged on with no problems a few minutes ago and saw this thread.

Welcome, FLighT01 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/member.php?u=70521).

Do I need to do anything?

PS: This reply posted up with no problems.
PSS: I have things setup to remember my password when I visit the site so I don't have to log on.

Frank...You are good..

But..It is wise to change JUST your password as we were hacked and that is what they were after...

What have you got against trekkies?
