The advent of a tug plane and thermals (including birds, to help see them)made FSX a much better simulator for those of who enjoy gliding.

The great champion of Freeware gliding Wolfgang Piper, has now written an article on making the VET technology (simulated winch launching) work on any glider in FSX.

The only snag being, you cannot use both aero and winch, as the mods make the winch glider a psuedo powered aircraft.

The full article on converting gliders is here.....
http://www.fsglider.de/p_vet1_e.htm

but, most will want to go here....
http://www.fsglider.de/dwnx_vet.htm

where Wolfgang has converted 10 of his fantastic FSX gliders to use VET, off the peg!
Add a new dimension to FSX, for free!!

Thanks for the hu!
Also great to see that Wolfgang is now making FsX native gliders too (the ones with the * are native).

I am not sure how he makes native FSX gliders with good VC's and they are less than a 3 meg download! It is worth having all of them at that price!

You beat me to it Roger, did you have to modify the model (it came with VEX in FS9), or just add the .dll's and FSUIPC 4 to FSX to get it to work??

I removed the original entries as they didn't work in FsX. I followed Wolfgang's instructions (and used one of his FsX .airfiles renamed to Slingsby) and away it went. In fsX there is a weird issue in vc with the altimeter glass (stops halfway across the face of the gauge) but apart from that it works well with good frame rates for an Fs9 model.

So Nick, some Aerosoft gliders eh? There's nice detail of the power units.
