What is the change I make to the cfg to make it a lot easier to steer on the ground?

Change the highlighted number from 180 to something more like this:

Note that WWII fighters did not have steerable tailwheels. For a realistic castoring TW the "50" should be 180. If you do not have pedals, check the cfg file to see if there is a "differential braking" line, this allows brakes to be applied to one side or the other in proportion to the rudder deflection. It helps a lot!

Judicuous use of the TW lock was in fact necessary. in the real Mustang, this was activated by pulling or pushing the stick. In FS you should assign a key or button to this function.

Good Luck: t.

In FS you should assign a key or button to this function.

No need to.
IIRC, in the WoP Mustang - as well as Wozza's - the "lock" of the tail wheel is activated once the stick is pulled back.
Spending lots of hours in Wozza's P-51 up to now, I got used to pulling back the stick when starting the takeoff roll and did the same in my "new" WoP Mustang.

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks guys. I really like flying the WWII Fighters P-51D, but I hate trying to steer it on the ground. This helps and i appreciate it. Real or not, I'm happy now.

Marcus - are you using my sounds for Wozza's Stang? Here bud---

Of course I do, Doug!

Thank you for your work! :applause:
And I use them not only for Wozza's 'Stang - even my WoP bird is powered by your files.

I tried lots of "Merlin" sound packs and I stood nearby "Big beautiful Doll" cranking up at last year's Berlin Air Show: Yours are the sounds that sound like the real thing! :ernae:
Cheers,
Markus.
