Well Ive had 2 hard drive failures in 2 months requiring 2 total Vista 64 and FSX with dozens and dozens of payware reinstalls.
The HD failure last night was on a new i7 machine.
Enough whining.
The program I cannot find is a process killer. You click it on and can go into "Game mode" which kills/stops background processes. The when done, you can go back to "normal".
I cannot find the name and have searched without success.
If anyone knows which one I am talking about, a name or link is appreciated.
Going on the 6th hour of FSX reinstalls.
Just waiting on Activesky to email with with yet another key.
There has got to be a btter way of doing this.

Sorry to hear that for you...

What defragger are you using?

Keep all keys on a removable or a cheap thumbdrive in the future..

AlricityPC is a great program for shutting down services and launching FSX or any game..

But an i7n should not need it IMO...

I run betreen 1.5 and 2 gigs of memory usage while online. Thats NOT even with FSX running. Vista is a major HOG and I cannot say I like it. I have alot of background progs to root out and kill. That name doesnt sound familiar but I will check it out.
I am current running auslogics freeware. The one Nick reccomends came out with a new version and I refuse to pay them anymore.
I did save keys but Vista has a way of slapping your hand when trying to install a program and after only a few tries, most keys expire. Even the generous Flight1 I had to get new keys. No biggie but when you have 3 dozen or so paywares it gets old.
My simmmarket history in itself is 3 pages. Yes Ive spent a ton on addons.
Thanks.

Why do you go through so many hard drives? What brand are they?

I dunno. First one was a new Raptor 150. Expensive, fast and flew apart.
Second was a Seagate Barracuda 750 about a month old.
Expensive and new doesnt mean anything anymore I guess.
My external hardrive was worth every penny I paid for it.
I have most things on dvds, the drive and others from Flight1,Simmarket you really only need to save emails.
It can happen to anybody at anytime.
These are the only things Ive had go bad other than a xfi sound card.
