Calclassics Lockheed Constellation L1049G in fictional LAI colors (my own repaint inspired to the same livery made on the Starliner) taking off from rwy 24 of Naples LIRN. :applause:

I think it describes how I like to sim quite well.:wiggle:

Having worked Fighters all my life, the need for speed has been where you can find me more often than not. Although I have been trying to slow down a bit as I get older, lol.

Low and slow in a favorite classic, enjoying flying VFR. Watching the scenery passing below, and looking for familiar landmarks. Just happen to be doing so in a plane I created - the first Fairchild, the FC-1. I am also flying over my favorite playground -- the great state of Texas.

second is an edit pal, if anyone want it full size as a wallpaper (currently 1440*900) let me know, this is why i started this thread, each has our own flying style, and the screenshots show our preferred methods, as i stated i love low and slow but also anything aerobatic (most used aircraft is a tie between the Hawk and the Extra 300)

Nice idea for a thread Smoothie, I will fly just about anything, but I do prefer military aircraft from WW1 to the present day.

A variety of my own shots to share here, should give you guys some idea of what my FS9 experience is like.

My preference is warbirds from WWII to today. Add a few helos for variety.

I mainly fly from the VC and practice nav skills from the basic to full ILS.

I often switch a/c in and out of storage. Here are some unedited screenies from what I've been flying over the last week.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a185/WarHorse47/Su-27%20Flanker/Flanker19.jpg

What some of these shots don't show are the cockpt mods I've recently made. Most of the modern jets I'm flying now have radar which gives me the challenge of intercepts on AI aircraft or flying in low terrain.

Hey, a difficult runway the likes I like to master, and with a very good scenery too. Can you tell me what scenery are you using and how to get it? :jump:

Hi Ashaman

Its payware and available at http://www.flytampa.org/ ..one of the best scenerys for FS9 IMO. Not only it includes St Barts it includes an even more difficult runway (Saba) and the famous St Maarten airport reknown for it low approcah over the beach with 747s etc

Cheers

Drzook
June 18th, 2009, 14:06
IIRC there was a freeware version of Saba as well but I think that was over at Avsim. Definitely a challenge even with light GA aircraft, almost impossible with larger types, although I once got a Dash 7 to land there (thank goodness for reversing props!)
Here's a couple more screenies, all unedited. As you can see my tastes are pretty much all over the map :)

Thinks, Q&A:
Q: Does it have to have props?
A: No
Q: Jets?
A: Uh uh
Q: Wheels?
A: Ummm, actually no...
Q: Biplane?
A: No
Q: Monoplane?
A: Nope
Q: Alright then, wings?
A: Not necessarily in the traditional sense, no
Q: Errr, it flies, right?
A: Correct...that's all that's required.:d:greenbo::d

Hey, cool!! And a very nice bambi it is too :applause:
I really like flying from the VC, doing the drop and then circling back around looking for the 'red stripe' to see how accurate I was.

The fire I use is just the sample one from the SDK with the smoke tweaked a bit. Know of any good forest fire fx/scenerys? I like the look of that one from your screen shot.

I'm currently working on modelling all the primary Tanker Bases in BC and designing some forest fire related objects like helipads, forest fire effects etc. Only problem is, it will be for FSX.

Oh great, now I'll have to make a choice.

1: Spend a bunch of money on computer upgrades so I can run FSX and what I'm sure will be some great scenery from you.

OR

2: Spend countless hours learning how to create fx and scenery for myself.

Where's my instant gratification!!! :icon_lol::icon_lol:

Seem to recall a screenshot of a certain someone launching one off an aircraft carrier though.

Wonder who that was?

It may have been easier to do that for Black Buck, adapt a carrier and Vulcan to do that, than it was to do it the way it was done lol, Vulcan 607 is a great read, looking forward to the follow up about forgotten Buccaneer missions.

Firebar
June 21st, 2009, 13:13
You mean Phoenix Squadron?

That is a good book, not quite as engaging as Vulcan 607, in my view, but still interesting. The photos of Ark Royal steaming through heavy seas at top speed are impressive. The description of the Buccaneers being intercepted on the way back from their mission by the USAF is somewhat interesting too.

nice pics there, my main chopper i fly in FS is the CH-47 'Chinook' (my own personal scheme of course) might get a pic of that out at Al Jubail (i think thats where i left it) when i fly a certain type i like i save flights as i go, that way i can easilly resume where i was without having to remember where i was... kinda handy... plus things don't get much more fun than fast roping from a chopper :applause: keep the pics coming guys this really is showing how diverse the sim community is:icon29:

Sometimes what you do around the sim can be fun too:

JdtdoJSX7yg

Making videos takes a lot of time, so I sometimes just pop a minute or so to capture the moment, when a screenshot might not do.
In this case, it's to do with the brakes, right at the end.

Now that Youtube does HD, you can even see the subject matter...

Reconstruct a historical era within the basic fs9... I have the brilliant Bill Lyons' Golden Wings http://www.goldenwings.info/ for the 1930s + a lot of California Classics http://www.calclassic.com/ & 1960s Scenery Project (mostly from http://www.avsim.com/ )with a few tweaks of my own for the late '50s/early '60s.

Taking part in "The great Taku Arm boat race" was a lot of fun and something a bit different to try although the multi Packard powered PT boat probably busted the rules on every single count.
