Very sad around here. The only fighters we'll see now are the ones we fly on acceptance flights from Boeing....

My office window looks out on to the runways here at Lambert (and rattles when the Eagles blast by on a low level pass http://mail.yimg.com/a/i/mesg/tsmileys2/03.gif). We're gonna miss them. It was always neat to see them take off in a "viking" take-off (full AB, up in a few hundred feet, gear up and flying level at about 50' off the deck down to the end of the runway then pulling up into the vertical and blast out of sight around 10K MSL then level out and fly off). They'd return in 4 abeam then peel off one by one into the break and land. Sometimes they would abort the landing and go around at 75' or less above the runway, blasting along at 250 kts then perform a climbing bank to do it all again (slamming the throttles full and really shake the building)

End of an era.....

I can't argue with getting the 131st out of Lambert- it's entirely too busy for them there and I think their real estate is too small. I'm not a fan of them losing F-15s though.
