True. But not mentioned until now is that Boris also wrote a Dx8-Dx9 converter that lets older games take advantage of his new addin:

To use it, go through the same steps as FSx/FS9; of undating Direct X 9 to the latest version, and installing Boris' addin in your FS2002 directory. (I tried both the 2009 version, and the earlier 2008 version mentioned in the Free graphics enhancer! (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=14995) thread, and they both work.)
Then, extract the above addin in the same folder as well. Alll of the same caveots about "your mileage may vary" applies to FS2002 as it does with FS9 and FSx; but if all works; then enjoy the limited benefits this addon can provide FS2002 users as well:
