Ted what is the difference between these and the D0 217's you did at Regs Hangar?

I do not have any Do 217's at Regs. The Do 17 there is by Steve S. These two 217's represent the N series. The squiggle pattern is a N1 and the others will be N2's. I have a few J2's but they will be uploaded later as a set for TOW.

The N1 was a real dog, couldn't climb, maneuver, and just was a real failure. The N2 was a lightened version that was better, still a poor machine. But I love the plane and if she gets you in sight well 4 mg17's and 4 mg151/20's will be enough.

The J2 you'll get was not too bad but the six mg 151/20 Schrage Music were just a lot fun.

These will be the last NJG planes for a while. The DO 215B5 will wait a bit. With these we have nearly all the planes that were used at night on both sides.

Oh, yes I do sleep. It does get in the way of things however.

Just to let

Sweet, these are a great addition! :woot:The night skies will not be the same... THANKS

Just a thought - for TOW would it be possible to set up night fighter spawns for campaign missions? I seem to recall some discussion around the difficulty of getting a night fighter campaign that ran only at night time. Have any work-arounds been found?

Led Zeppelin
March 30th, 2009, 08:13
you just have to setup DayTimeOnly="n" in the campaign file.

then, player will just have to check hour before to fly.

Sorry Ted I confused those with the last Do-217's you did and I think you released them with the initial ETO release.

E5 6nnp used to carry the hs293 guided rocket bomb. Well here is another. I was not going to make it but John did such a nice skin I couldn't resist.

Ted, is that extension at the tail one 'a them crazy air-brakes those sleds have at times?
...also, were the same areas ever used to store life-rafts, or*(?)?....:fish2:

*picka'nick lunches? or "the loot"? or... HEY!!, what's he got in there, huh?

(Even tho' they IS slower than molasses (or frozen asses(t)) during the slo' season... me still luv ta fly 'em cause they is BOO-TEE-FULL!...) Thanx, buddy!

NachtPiloten

The n2's all were intended to have the parachute brake. Some did and the brake was not very effective since it was controlled by a wheel behind the pilot's seat. The plane had a max speed between 325-311 depending upon who you read. At those speeds a brake was well not needed.

Several of the bomber versions used the brake but all in all it was a failure and not needed. The Do 217 was not an effective dive bomber as the Ju88 was so most Do 217's were used as level bombers. I like it since it is unusual and well fun to model.

The life raft was stowed in the top side of the fuselage directly in front of the Schrage music.

The only ones that are not near completion are the K2 and M1 versions. The K2 had extended wings and carried the Hs293. The M1 was Dorniers most frequently used bomber and a number survived the war. These has a completely new nose section and well require a fair amount of work. I do a meshes for these but they are along way off.
