I'm working on a repaint for the Alphasim S-55 and need to know what these characters mean on the side of the chopper. Unfortunately I can't just cut it out of the photo because the angle on the shot is too extreme to correct.
Thanks in advance...81300

They mean "Air Self Defense Force." I'll try to find a good photo for you.

Okay, using Babel Fish translator I get "空気自衛隊" which looks correct except for the 2nd character reading left to right. I'll keep searching the net for a suitable picture. Thanks MHAircraft!

The Japanese term literally translates to "Aviation Self Defense Force". Babel fish, OTOH, was talking about defending the air we breathe. :faint:

Yeah babel fish seems to take "artistic license" while translating most of the time lol81316

This is coming along nicely...I always loved "dirty" repaints, and have recently discovered the "burn" and "dodge" brushes in PSP. They do a pretty believable weathered look.:ernae:

My progress so far...I still need to finish the nose, winch, and find a pesky missing texture on the belly. I'm calling it a day. :faint:

Tip.When you have a angle photo like that you can stretch and distort it to get a frontal feeling.

That's actually what I ended up doing, thanks.
The paintkit for the S-55 is a bit wonky...I ended up having to modify the paint slightly to steer around 4 specific areas where the mapping was goofy. Anyways I hope you guys like it...
