Took off in the dark from Bolzano and thrashed around the mountains for a bit as the sun rose. Excellent photo scenery and lovely 16xAA while listening to Broken Social Scene and that great engine sound =D

Nice pics Hinch! and nice pics of a lovely bird.

Bolzano looks very picturesque. I almost thought that was Innsbruck for a milisecond.

They're quite close to each other, just some mountains in the way but there may be a road.

I visited Bolzano for an evening 5 years ago when skiing at nearby Passo Tonale - we were meant to get the real Italian Pizzeria experience but to be honest (and my friends agreed), I much prefer Pizza Express in town here.

My wife and I made the mistake of assuming Bolzano was an Italian town when we first arrived a few years ago. Figured out pretty quick that the residents think of themselves more as southern Austrians than northern Italians. Once I switched to speaking German, we got much friendlier faces. I had some of the best apples I've ever eaten in my life in Bolzano... simply magnificent little things. It's a gorgeous town and an amazingly picturesque area.

Bolzano, Windrunner's home town:ernae:

Where's the photo real scenery from?

The scenery is from flightsim.com, search for 'ItalVFR'. There was a topic about it here a while back.

I don't remember noticing if everyone spoke German when I was there. I have only visited Italy once but over the border in Austria we used to get discount pizzas from a fairly nice little café because we had instructor badges and I think they were very similar to taste :gossip:
