We will be there, mainly because the GT40R will be on show through the OC and all our passes cost me nothing! (Thank's Shannon's!)
I'm curious to look at the current generation 'cars' and we will both enjoy some social interaction. (Sofie and Frocks!) :surprise:
Time to give the 934 a thorough wash and polish, she could do with a public outing.
Decided to put the cars on the Geelong ferry and drive to the circuit from the opposite side of the City to avoid the CBD.
Weekend Weather: Friday-22C: Saturday 25C: Sunday 27C with late rain possible.

:victorious:

Gasly's car on fire, earlier this weekend Vettel's car on fire and now Verstappen's car on fire. Is the FIA supplying leaking fuel pumps?

Cheers,
Huub

Good to see Ricciardo having a decent finish in front of his home crowd!

Spectating from the Stewart stand on Friday.
What a waste of time sitting in one place on the main straight!!!!!! (Even for free)
Saturday and Sunday we just went freelance and wandered.

Photographing any on track action is totally frustrating, especially during FP1. I gave up!

And? Are the cars really as huge as they look?

Hi Huub: Yes they are big! I couldn't track down the dimensions (but I will as a matter of interest) and while I know there are limits on height and width I believe there are no restrictions on length.
Using Mk.1 Eyeball I'd say the average EffWun device is twice the length of the MX5 and I was informed that most of the grid comes to the line fully fueled tipping the scales at 900K or so!
I know form follows function and all that but they are really ugly, the 'floor' that extends the full width of the chassis is ridiculous, while the array of 'aero' gubbins and wrinkles simply have no place on a 'motor car'.
To add insult to injury the sound is dreary and strangled, shamed by the raucous Cosworth DFV in the back of Alan Jones 1980 Williams FW07 driven with much verve by Johnny Herbert!
And what a petite little race car it was.
Ferrari have definitely got race pace in spades as well as being the best looking car of a sad bunch.
What posses an operation like McLaren to paint their vehicles in Marigold and Cornflower Blue with a matte finish beats me: more Marigold and less Blue in a high gloss finish should be de riguer!!!!
The porpoising that seems to plague all the field isn't that hard to work out, the dynamic centre of pressure generated by the ground effects is breaking contact with the track surface and allowing the air flow to stall at numerous points along the under-tray.
That is probable a simplistic view but it plagued the full ground effect cars of 40+ years ago and caused Colin Chapman in particular grief with the Lotus 80 series of second generation GE cars.

On a brighter note, MotoGP was really entertaining and pretty much unpredictable!
Four rounds done and 10 different riders with a podium..................:triumphant:

Furthermore.......

'Occupants' of seats who should be elsewhere!
Preferably piloting something within their skill sets such as an Uber.

Yuki Tsunoda
Zhou Guanyu
Nicholas Latifi
Lance Stroll

Time to retire for Sebastian Vettel.

Based on the 5.5 Metre length quoted for the 2021 chassis, I would say that the 2022 length O/A is close to 6 Metres.
Rough conversion to Imperial works out to around 20 Feet!!!!!!!!!!!
:dizzy:
A Footnote: Ford's 4 door Bronco measures 189.4–190.5 in (4,811–4,839 mm) overall.
And another: Wheelbase only - 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie
140.5 in (3,569 mm) (Quad Cab)
144.6 in (3,673 mm) (Crew cab/short bed)
153.5 in (3,899 mm) (crew cab/long bed)

I think Tsunoda and Zhou aren't that bad; Yuki has improved over last season and Zhou isn't doing too bad compared to Bottas.

As for Vettel: I think it is sad to see how the Strolls are handling the team and the Aston Martin legacy... They were lucky with their Mercedes copy the last two years, but now they have the worst car of the field.

F1 cars this year should be shorter than the previous years, as the rules impose a restriction on the wheelbase.

They were lucky with their Mercedes copy
Which brings up an interesting question:
Which team outside of Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull have the most original car?

My pick would be the Williams, but Haas and Alfa Romeo seem to have designed a better car.
