I've got a wee problem.

I picked up the Carenado S330 while it was on sale.

Very pleased with the aircraft , but in the ' Select Aircraft' the view distance is extreme as is the external view once the aircraft is installed.

The pics show what I mean.

How can I reduce the external view distance for the S330 ?

Look for RADItor on SceneryDesign.org

RADItor is a small tool to adjust the radius (RADI) setting within a FSX MDL file. Aircraft developers sometimes need to adjust this radius to make the aircraft show correctly in the aircraft selection window.

Usually caused by some part component in the model (a stray vertex or poly) many feet from the main aircraft. That causes a crash box to be generated that is larger (and sometimes smaller) than the aircraft, and FS uses that to position the aircraft in the view.

The application mentioned above allows you to correct the crash box size.

I used to have to adjust the box each time I exported HMS Victory model because the high sails distorted the crash box, left the view uncentered and distant.

Thanks for you replies :applause:

I'll try the RADItor.

Here's the details in the original S330 MDL

I'm thinking of reducing the radius to about 15m.

How critical are the dimensions in the Bounding box, and what values should I change them to?

Thanks for your help.

Success :jump: :jump:

I reduced the radius, initially down to 20m ( from 58+m ) , then 15m. Now it's 10m and much better.

I've also reduced the figures in the Bounding box, but I have no idea whether they are as important.

Thanks Milton & Gérard for your help. :applause:

Good work Pete.
However, IMHO, the further away a Shorts SD-30 is, the better it looks :biggrin-new:

As they say, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' :biggrin-new:

Also can anyone tell me how critical are the figures in the Bounding box.
