View Full Version : The highest priority airplanes you want to see in MSFS

Here's my list (in order):

- T-33A (See my other thread...NO love given to this airplane!)
- P-51D (civilian...nothing from A2A yet on this)
- DC-3/C-47 (Thanks AH for working the DC-3)
- Fokker F-27 (JF silent thus far on their willingness to bring their superb F-27 to MSFS)
- T-38A (Milviz, hopefully)
- L-188 Electra (Passenger version)
- F-86 (Think Milviz has plans to do this for MSFS)
- SF-260 (Sim Coders WAS doing one...don't know status)
- Mitsubishi MU-2 (Solitaire is my fav...but would settle for a Marquis)
- Boeing 727-100 (and a -200 would be okay...)
- DC-9-15/30 (Guess FlytheMaddogs MDs will have to suffice)
- DC-4/C-54 (Would love to see a dedicated Flight Replicas version)
- HU-16 Albatross
- Avanti P-180 (No word on Milviz bringing this to MSFS)
- Twotter (thanks Aerosoft...looking forward to it)
- B-57/EB-57 (NO one is working this, I don't think)
- Ant's T-28 family
- P2V-7 Neptune (military variant)

What's your list?

Plenty of civilian P-51D's coming with the Reno addon, many of which aren't racers (but have raced at Reno).

I would love to have Flight Replica's Bf-109G, Buchon, P-40N and B-24's as MSFS native. I would also love to have a B-17F or G and Hawker Hurricane done to Flight Replica's standard for visual accuracy.

For a Meteor, talk to Rob, I like his version.

And yes, I completely forgot the B-24 and 109's!

Anything with complex management of big combustion engines and steam gauge IFR equipment is good to explore the world in MSFS. Something like a basic Sperry autopilot is cool, too.
And complex / technically special planes like the SR-71 or the Concorde. Would love the concorde with PMDG or A2A like system management. So, something like this:

Bombers for there more complex systems (B-17, B-24, B-25, Lancaster)
Bf-109G (With proper sound and engine handling)
Constellation (any type)
DeHavilland Comet or 707 for a steam cockpit Jetliner
SR-71
Concorde

Probably some I have forgotten.

I would like to take a different angle: Heinkel He-162, Messerschmitt Me-163, Martin Baker MB5, North American F-108 and, but this would be a huge undertaking I guess: the Messerschmitt Me 263 and the Daimler Benz A. So: mostly planes that flew not at all or very rerely in reality but that we can experience in our simulator.

I'd be interested in a plane which is replacing the Islander here in the UK as a police observer: the Italian Vulcanair (formerly Partenavia) P.68.
It's also used by civilian, military and government operators around the world and has been in production since 1972, so steam gauge and glass cockpit variants could be modelled with quite a range of liveries.

Here goes:

Mirage III - ideally a C, E or S... basically something to play in the Alps with
F-104S - if the TF-104G pans out for SSW I imagine its inevitable they'll update the G and S for MSFS as well.
EE Lightning
Hawker Hunter - (any)
Folland Gnat (a man can dream)
SEPECAT Jaguar - GR1.A/GR3
T-38A
Beech Staggerwing

Anything with a arresting hook if FSX (or better) level carrier ops ever comes to pass.

Mossie and B-25, don't care what variant.

Sundog
October 24th, 2021, 15:35
This is tough, because I think most of us would simply settle for "All of them!" Until then, my list:

P-39
Mossie (Come on, Dave, what's taking so long? Oh right, the other plane you're working on. ;) )
Privateer (-2 single tail with dual .50 blisters)
V-22
V-280
T-7A (On Dino's to do list, but it will be awhile)
Cessna Crusader
Rutan Catbird (Long shot, but why not)
Glasair III RG
Velocity V-Twin
Convair 990
Gripen JAS-39
Rockwell Jet Commander
Rockwell Sabreliner (Isn't one of these being worked on? Or was that P3D?)
Lockheed Jetstar II
F-86H

That should cover it for now. It's difficult to minimize the list. I should note that I didn't add anything that was made in the past by Carenado, such as the Aero-Commanders, as I figure they will eventually convert those to MSFS.

Finally an adult

I think your forget that, with the launch of MSFS on XBox, that it is now the gaming kiddies that make up the majority of the market of MSFS.

And I don't think that someone's taste in aircraft is an indication of whether the individual is an adult or not. Tastes and preferences in aircraft have nothing to do with being a grown up. They're exactly that: tastes and preferences.

Priller...If I had to guess, I don't think Paul was trying to disrespect anyone...I think he was alluding to the old Tom Gibson "Jets are for kids" mantra...and expressing his agreement with that sentiment.

I don't think that will last long. There's not enough "game" to the game ("It's not a game, it a simulator!!!") for the teenagers out there. They're going to go through the landing challenges, then maybe the bush trips, then declare it "finished" and move on. Then it will be back to those of use that appreciate relaxing during a nice flight from Key West to Cancun, or from San Juan PR to Princess Juliana.

I'm afraid the quest for less "mainstream" subjects will continue to be a long one. MSFS is a very different proposition to build for, payware or freeware. The time, effort and resources are far greater. So payware titles are likely to continue to be "middle-road" choices because the ROI is greater and more assured. Freeware will be down to time - whether the developer has sufficient time and patience to produce more obscure titles. Unless they have access to specialist skills like WWise sound production, sounds will be legacy. Material and texture development will also slow progress. So it is likely that the more obscure subjects will continue to be legacy imports if they are freeware. Nothing wrong with that if that is what you are after but dedicated native productions is another story altogether.:engel016:

You're right, I hadn't thought of that. It would be interesting to compare the capabilities of the Twinpin with those of the Twin Otter, Kodiak, Porter etc. in places like New Guinea.
