does anybody know which numbers needs to be changed to have
a correct ratio of forward speed and nose down. i.e. either cruise speed
is much too low in level flight, or nose down attitude too much for proper speed. Thanks

You need to reduce Frontal Surface Area in section 1404 of the air file (Helicopter Fuselage Area and Drag) to give a higher nose up attitude for any given airspeed. Unfortunately, this will also increase airspeed for any given torque setting, which you can correct by reducing Main Rotor CLmax in section 1402 (Helicopter Main Rotor). This also has the effect of increasing the amount of torque needed to hover, so both these edits need to be used sparingly.

You can also replace some of the drag by adding to the side and top surfaces, but this will affect stability in turns (side) and how quickly you bleed off airspeed when flaring (top) so these too need to be edited carefully. Using a combination of all these edits though, it shouldn't be too difficult - with a little trial and error - to get the results you're looking for.

Good luck.

It may be cheating but you can get some good results by adding some station weight well forward in the cfg. It doesn't seem to adversly affect hover stability.
