Was wondering if anyone has this and what you think of it.

Available at SimMarket (https://secure.simmarket.com/swiss-military-pilot-1950-1960-de-havilland-vampire-dh-100-mk6.phtml)

Looks impressive, but costly.

It has great flying characteristics things get a bit dicey when you load bombs or wing tanks increasing the weight

you have to fly at the right power settings other wise you will blow the motor very realistic

a very nice cockpit all gauges are in Swiss but I believe they are going to bring out a international model which will be great

A great machine

It comes made for FSX FSX-Steam and p3DV4.5

Hello,

The idea of this development was to reproduce as accurately as possible the aircraft, its flight and mission behaviour and the way it was flown. To do this, we have added not only TacPack support, but also missions (scenarios) that allow you to better discover your environment at the time.

Two former pilots of this real aircraft participated in the design and conducted multiple tests. In addition, most of the systems have been modeled and are functional, such as the NAFU and GCA navigation system, which makes it a unique extension to my knowledge.

Another unique feature: the extension is available in 3 languages: French, German and English, for missions, checklists, but also for the manual which is over 100 pages long (downloadable from our website)!

All this is the result of more than 2 years of work and I would like to thank in advance those who will support us by purchasing this extension.

Now, I understand that this price can discourage some of them, it's not an extension that you buy on a whim, but rather after reflection.

We are a small team of 4 people who do this as amateurs and who have spent thousands of cumulative hours on the project. The income is therefore only a meagre compensation.

In addition, we believe that the quality of our extension is similar to an A2A extension, for example in terms of realism, and therefore the price is also similar and therefore corresponds to the market price.

Sorry, but I have nothing more...
The only thing that I can say is that we planned to do an international version, with international textures, because this one is with a swiss cockpit.
We are going to discuss this soon with the team, but no details at all for the moment.

Hi Jérôme,

Another question: can this model be simply started up by ctrl+e or does it require a startup procedure.

When I have time, startup procedures are no problem, but sometimes (after work or after helping my boy with his studies), I just like to get up into the air fast and enjoy some time flying.

Cheers,

Priller

Yes, it is possible to startup using CTRL+E as a simpler startup procedure too.

there are a few version optionsOf course. :very_drunk:

The installation went fine. The installer found the FSXA install.

All is fine except that the Tacpack weapons are not loading for the short nose model. Fuel tanks and empty pylons are showing. There are no display problems with the long nose model.

After my report to SMS, I did a full uninstall - downloaded a fresh installer - and reinstalled the aircraft, and the issue persists. My guess is that there is something quirky with the short nose model for the FSX install.

SMS is looking into the problem. :encouragement:

I've always been fascinated by the early jets, and this is no exception.

I've finally been able to complete a few short flights without destroying the engine. Really immersive and challenging, despite some VC labels and tool tips being non-English. Helps to watch the videos. Will likely pick up the international version when its developed. :encouragement:

Haven't launched any Tacpack weapons, yet. Still waiting for the patch on the short nose model. Hopefully that will be available soon. :untroubled:

ColoKent
November 24th, 2019, 07:03
I can only say 3 things:

1. Sloooow throttle movement when advancing the throttle
2. Use the yellow (10 min. max) and red (3 min. max) markings on the rpm gauge to keep from over taxing the engine)
3. Idle descents are okay, but be right of the green marker RPM-wise during the approach

Again, I love the machine. However, I wish the external and VC models and textures were a bit more Milviz quality...perhaps this can be fixed with improvements to the textures.

Here are my hopes for this team:
a. They have whatever “meeting” they need to have to get cracking on the international version
b. They stay on a roll by doing the DH Venom next

if you are a Vamp/Venom lover like me, you CAN’T not be happy with this release.

Hello,

The international version of our Vampire is almost ready. The differences are essentially as follows:

Cockpit completely redesigned to take into account the specifics of the English model.
Repaints from different countries
Paintkit
The "Swiss" Jeep for starting the engine has been replaced by a starter trolley.

Below some captures of the different liveries:

There is a film made in Britain in the mid to late 50s, maybe early 60s, called "High Flight." Stars Ray Milland, also Anthony Newly (I think). Just some good general film of the Vampire on the ground and in the air, in RAF markings. I've seen it on YouTube and if you can get past the attempts at humor it's a good generalized look at early RAF jet training. Oh, Chipmunks, too.

Went ahead ahead and bought the "Export" version of the Vampire. Only difference are English placards and instrument labels (and imperial unit instruments). Drop tanks were not modified to be the standard seen on most export versions, but rather the same Swiss style ones that were in the original package. Worth it because of the English language markings and imperial instruments, IMHO...but other than that, little to no difference. Perhaps they will release a patch with the more common external tank style. Off to find the paint kit....

P.S. Venom next, please!

Good morning, everyone,

I am happy to answer the various questions raised in this forum ..:

There are few differences between the Swiss Vampire and the original: the Swiss version is a licensed build of the Vampire Original FB 5&9, with some improvements, but mostly a cockpit with metric instruments. The English cockpit has been adapted to the best of its possibilities, and information, while remaining reasonable!

We have little information on the design of the original external tanks, but we know that there have been several different models used. It would have been difficult to model all of them, especially without more details and images!

Many developers have already decided to give up modeling for FSX, which is an old and outdated simulator, and that's our decision too! It takes a lot of energy to create for many simulators, and we don't prefer to focus on the future with P3D, and probably with Microsotf's future Flight Simulator 2020...

Thank you for your interest in our work... and happy flying!

Hi,

To respond more specifically to Kent, each different tank also has different attachments, or pylons. These attachments are also used for bombs and rockets racks... As our Vampire is compatible with Tacpack, this implies a number of problems for weapons adaptation. This is one more reason why we decided not to model other types of tanks...

A thousand apologies...! We'll try to do better with the Venom DH-112...

ColoKent
April 2nd, 2020, 12:09
Ah....forgot about TACPACK implications....I knew there was a reason I hate TACPACK, even though I own it and use it if I have to (to see external stores on aircraft without loadout managers...but I'm not a shoot 'em up, drop bombs kind of guy in P3D...).

So you ARE doing a Venom!!!!!!! OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
