As I flash back to my days as a youth in 1958, I remember when I got a nice AC Gilbert erector set for Christmas.
This is taken from a 1958 catalog with the price back then, I think in pristine shape it might go for ~$2K.

It came with a sound set, i.e a record and a record playing mechanism powered by a 3V motor that also powered the
Ferris wheel.

Here is a video that I found on youtube of the sound set part of the erector set.

I found a clearer version of the carnival sound. It is a wma file.

Pictures of the record that came in the sound set.

Those were the days.

Thanks for watching.

If you could build the Ferris Wheel or the Parachute Tower, you had one of the deluxe sets. One of the guys in my model train club (who has since passed away) had a HUGE collection of Erector sets dating back to the early days.

Do NOT try to d/l that .wma file. I've gotten this fake ransomware notice twice now:

Your windows virus protector must be uber sensitive. I can assure you the file is legit and stored on Mediafire. I uploaded it there my self, and did a test D/L and works fine for me.

Tell ya what, I will provide a direct link where I got it from. Can't miss with that. I just tried link below and it works for me.

The record was 78 RPM.

This is direct link for the record sound:

Below, is the web page that has a hyperlink for the sound. So you have two sources.

As a kid, I enjoyed that erector set #10072 back in '58.
Here is link for the 1958 catalog. They sold a Master builder set, 37 lbs, could build a robot that walks, the Ferris wheel and all the other stuff that the other sets had.
It came with two motors. $69 back in '58. #10092.

That was not generated by my 'windows virus protector'. That is a fake page, which considering the fuzziness of the images gives it's "fakeness" away...

...aside from which no "virus protector" would ever threaten "As a result, your system files are automatically deleted." :dizzy:

Thanks for the direct link though, it plays very nicely. :encouragement:

I had a couple of 'generic' erector sets back in the day myself, but I was more into the chemistry sets!

Gee, I wonder why no one advertises and promotes chemistry sets any longer? Perhaps because of :pop4: ???

Glad to hear you got the "carnival" sound for the Ferris set.

The actual record is rare but at least hearing the sound file from that record brings back memories for me.

My folks would not give me a chem set. A friend of mind back in the day had one and not knowing what I was doing, I threw together a little bit of

this and that and the other and it started to bubble and fizz and I got rid if it....very fast....:pop4:
