Part of the celebrations that run from D-day to the end of the war 75 year ago, my former hometown Ede held an air show that featured a nice list of warbirds, that included no less than four Spitfires, two Hurricanes, a Lysander, four Stearmans, A C-47, a Buchon and even a real (Static) me-109!

Yes it was a great air show but so hot on the field.... Very unfortunate that the spitfire PRXI PL983 had a landing gear failure on EHHV Midden zeeland. And B17 Sally B and a real Me109 were unable to come due to problems.
We were very fortunate to have so many warbirds attending this show in the Netherlands. Now waiting for the Market Garden celebrations near Arnhem, always a great spectacle!

Yes it was quite hot... Think I lost about a kilo despite having three bottles to drink with me!
Sally B not able to come was a disappointment, but at least we had plenty of other Spitfires and still one static Me-109.
Do you know which one was planned to come?

Great photos!
Are airshows always hot? :biggrin-new: I actually missed the Avalon Airshow this year becasue it was too hot, about 44 degrees on the day I planned to go. It's nearly always over 40 degrees when the Avalon Airshow is on. I suppose the organisers aim for days with good weather, ie good visibility and little chance of rain.

I looked at the aircraft list again. There is only the Buchon, not a flying Messersmitt Me109. I thought i also had seen one on the list. I did not stay to the very end, did the Dutch B25 Duke of Brabant turn up?

Thanks, and not here in Europe!
Usually it feels cold, being in an open field at about 20 degrees yet you still end up sunburnt for some reason.
This time it was 30+ degrees, no shade and hardly any wind.

Not that I know of. We left around 16:30 and I think the 'Thunder Yaks' was the last display of the day. If the B-25 would have flown I think we would have heard it; that thing is LOUD!
