I知 looking for payware aircraft recommendations. I致e had my eye on the FlyingIron P-47, and theVSkyLabs DC-3. But I知 not sure what else is out there that is worth the cash.

Im not much of a tube-liner driver. I知 more interested in GA, warbirds.

In GA, even Carenado makes a nice set of planes. My general rule of thumb is if it costs less that twenty dollars when not on sale, it isnt worth buying yet. twenty five to thirty dollars is probably ok, and above thirty dollars is going to give as pleasant experience. Theres just so many of them that its hard to make a single recommendation. check out the org store and take your time. aerobask has the higher reputation but others have also shown to be top knotch.
Military, i can only make two recommendations. The little Albatross and the A-37. Both fly decently and are fun, and the a-37 comes with weapons..
Enjoy..

The VSKYLABS C-47 is good, but only uses default features and systems.

Scroll thru the screenshots and see if there is something you like. Then go to x-plane.org to check out reviews, most payware have them. For freeware, check the description and be sure to scroll down to reviews. Also thay are rated by 1 to 5 stars although the rating system there may be a bit wonky.

there are a lot of nice add ons out there, both freeware and payware.

I concur with the suggestions provided so far.

For GA, I enjoy flying the JustFlight PA-28R Arrow and turbo Arrow. They can be bought as a bundle.

There are also some very good freeware planes available, like the Let L-410.

I checked out the A-37 and apparently the cockpit has undergone some renovations since I worked on them in Nam. Doesn't look like the original cockpit layout. Also, why do people insist on putting smoke into engine exhaust where there was none? I worked on both the T-37 and the A-37B models and never saw smoke like I see in the screenshots. If I can find a way to kill that I might be interested as there's no telling if or when anything will come of an A/T-37 in FSX or P3D.

First pic is what I see on every airplane I load (Prop or Jet). Similar to the "dirt" dust that kicks up when landing or taking off from a dirt strip. This would remain until I pushed the throttle forward. . .at that point the black smoke took over.

Utilizing "Planemaker" I was able to remove the black smoke that would show up once I throttled up for takeoff.

Forgot to add the fix, lol

Open Planemaker
Load the aircraft "acf" file
Using the "Standard" tab, select "Engine Specs"
Now select the tab that is labeled "SFC/Sound"

In the lower right corner there is "exhaust dirtiness". Adjusting this up or down will then increase or decrease the amount of black smoke. I ran mine down as far as it would go (0.01).

There is probably a like fix for the dust/smoke that's visible while the engines are running but I haven't tracked that down yet.
