Doc is a B-29 Superfortress (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_(aircraft)) and one of 1,644 manufactured in Wichita during World War II. The aircraft was rescued from the Mojave Desert by B-29 flight engineer Tony Mazzolini. It was restored to flying condition by the non-profit organization Doc's Friends. Today it is one of only two remaining airworthy B-29 Superfortresses.
The aircraft represents a giant leap forward in technology and is the same model that was used to drop both atomic bombs in WWII.
