In 1939, he joined the French Air Force and received his pilot's wings in september 1939, continiuing his training on the Dewoitine D520. He joined a squadron just two days before the French Surrender, only to receive the order to burn his aircraft. After the French surrender, Maridor left to go to England with many other French pilots, where he joined the R.A.F. After training, he began flying with the 615 Squadron on Hurricanes. He scored his first kill on the 14th of October 1941. In february 1942, he tranbsferrd to 91 squadron, flying Spitfires, where he scored a further 8 kills, one of which was Lt Paul Galland, the brother of Adolf Galland, in october 1942.
From june 1944, 91 squadron flew the Spitfire mk XIV and specialised in shooting down the V1's that the Germans started sending over to the UK. Capt Maridor was succesful at this too, shooting down 6 of the Doodlebugs before his final flight on the 3rd of August 1944.

On this day, Maridor intercepted a Doodlebug over Rolvenden around 12:33. Flying towards the bomb, he shot at it at 12:39. Although he hit it, the bomb was only damaged not destroyed. On his second attack, he saw the bomb was heading for Benenden School, which at the time was being used as a military hospital. Knowing that hundreds of lives would be lost if the bomb was to hit, Maridor launched a final attack at 12.43. He approached to less than 50 metres to ensure he would not miss a second time. The Doodlebug exploded this time, but the wing of his plane was caught in the explosion and ripped from the body. The plane crashed beside the lake on the school grounds, killing Maridor just 8 days before his wedding. His fiancée has been quoted as saying he would not have hesitated in his attack on the bomb. He knew that many lives would have been lost otherwise.

It shows Spitfire IXc ML214 5J-K as flown by Squadron Leader Ioannis Agorastos "John" Plagis of RAF 126 (Persian Gulf) Squadron, based in RAF Culmhead, may 1944. S/L Plagis was born in Rhodesia of Greek parents and was officially listed as a Greek pilot with the RAF. He enlisted in october 1940, and was trained in the UK before being sent to the Mediterranean. He flew a Spitfire off HMS Eagle to Malta, where he soon became the first Spitfire ace with 249 squadron. His final score on Malta was 10, keeping a vow he made when a friend of his was shot down by the Germans. He returned to the UK in august 1942 and spent a year as an instructor. He returned to active duty in september 1943 as CO of 64 squadron, and joined No 126 squadron in january 1944. He picked ML214 as his personal aircraft because of the K on the tail, since all his aircraft were always named after his sister Kay. He ended the war flying Mustangs, with an official score of 16 aircraft and two probables, making him the highest ranking Rhodesian and Greek pilot.

Hi all,

Don't know if this is the right place, but when I try to install my RAS-Spitfire it has to to make contact with the Internet, which doesn't work (gives an error-message), so I can't install it. And so I can't install these great new textures (snif!). Suggestions for a solution most welcome!!

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX by Real Air.

It shows Spitfire IX 2011 #26 was one of the 60 Spitfires that Israel bought in Czechoslowakia for $23.000 in 1948. They were ferried to Israel via Yugoslavia, where they were refuelled before embarking on a 2250 km trip over the Mediterranean to reach Israel. Operation Velvetta was the codename of these secret ferry flights.

On arrival in Israel, the Ocean Grey RAF paint was over-painted in brown, and the aircraft received the tail markings of the 101st squadron of the IDAF.

The marking below the cockpit was a Czech marking, but the Israelis added an aircraft in the claws of the eagle.

Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paint kit by RealAir.

Description: Spitfire IXc EN186 was the personal aircraft of S/L L.C. Wade, an American flying with the RAF. Wade was born in the small farming community of Broaddus, Texas in 1915. He was the second son of Bill and Susan Wade, who named him L.C. (only after the RAF demanded a forename did he call himself Lance Cleo Wade). After the family moved to a farm near Reklaw, Texas in 1922 he worked on the family farm and attended the local school. He was unable to join the US Army Aviation Cadet Program due to a lack of a college education. He began flying at age 17, at Tucson, Arizona. In 1934 at age 19, Wade joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Arizona. He joined the RAF in Canada in December 1940 and trained with No. 52 Operational Training Unit (OTU). Wade was then sent to the British aircraft carrier Ark Royal and flew off her deck in Hawker Hurricane to reinforce the depleted ranks of aircraft on the island of Malta. He was then sent to Egypt as a Hawker Hurricane Mk I pilot in September 1941, and was posted to 33 Squadron. The squadron's mission was to provide close air support for Operation Crusader, the British assault launched on November 18, 1941, against the German Afrika Korps. His first kills were two Fiat CR.42s on 18 November. He attained the rank of "ace" on 24 November 1941. He began flying Hurricane Mk IIs in April 1942, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC). He had 13 victories as of September 1942. He spent the next several months back in the US on various RAF projects including evaluating some American fighters at Wright Field. He returned to combat as a Flight Commander in 145 Squadron with a Bar to his DFC, flying Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vs. Promoted to squadron leader, he had a busy 60 days, as by the end of April his score was 21, by then flying Spitfire Mk IXs. His squadron moved to Italy, and as a Spitfire VIII pilot he claimed two Focke-Wulf Fw 190s of Schlachtgeschwader 4 on 2 October 1943. His last claims were three FW 190s (again of SG 4) damaged on 3 November. Wade became a wing commander and joined the staff of the Desert Air Force but was there only briefly, as he was killed in a flying accident on 12 January 1944 at Foggia, Italy. In 30 fights for which he made claims he was credited with 23 victories including two shared), one probable, and 13 damaged. He is also credited with one destroyed and five damaged on the ground.

Wing Commander Wade is usually listed with 25 victories but official RAF records show that he had 22 solo victories and half each of two more for a total of 23, not counting one probable. Regardless of whether his score is 25, or 23 victories, he is still the leading American fighter ace to serve exclusively in any foreign air force.

Since he never transferred to the USAAF, or any other American Air service, Wade never got the publicity that other American aces received and thus is more obscure than his peers.

The aircraft depicted in this repaint, EN186, started its active career with 249 sqn on Malta, who used it for high flying reconaissance, and who were responsible for replacing the dark green with Mediterranean Blue. The aircraft was then transferred to Tunisia, where it was the personal aircraft of W/C Gleed of the 244 wing. After his death, it went to L.C. Wade, who scored 5 victories with it in april 1943. He did not apply any codes to it, and referred to it in his logbook as BB, for Blue Bird. He flew it till august 1943, when he changed to flying Spitfire MK VIII JF472

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX by Real Air. It shows Spitfire IXc BS273, which was one of the Spitfires modified for high altitude interceptions, based at Northolt, 1942, and regularly flown by F/O Prince Emmanuel Galitzine. The prince was a Russian immigrant, a great grandson of Tsar Paul 1. After the Russian revolution, his family fled Russia, ending up in England. He wanted to fly, and when the Russian attacked Finland, he decided to join the Finnish Air Force. However, on hearing his mother was killed in the London blitz, he returned to the uK (via the US and Canada) and joined the RAF, becoming a Spitfire pilot with the Special Service Flight in Northolt. On 12 september 1942, he intercepted a JU-86 above Southampton at 41.000ft and attacked it. The battle went up to 43.000 ft, and was the highest recorded air battle of WWII. His spitfire only had two cannons, and one of them was frozen solid, giving a very unbalanced flight while shooting, combined with excessive vapor trails of his ammunition. It is believed he managed to hit the german aircraft, but in the end it got away safely. However, since the Germans now knew they could be intercepted, they launched no more high altitude attacks on the UK.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the MIlviz P-38L, representing P-38L MM4260 3-21 as flown by the 3 Stormo of the Italian Air Force. After the war, Italy received 120 P-38s in an agreement dated April, 1946. Those heavy fighters, mainly P-38Ls, but also F-5s, were put in service in 4 Stormo. They flew reconnaissance missions over the Balkans, as well as ground attack, naval cooperation and air superiority missions. Delivered after a one-month refurbishing, they finally were all sent to AMI not before 1952. Other wings, like 3 Stormo, used the P-38 as well. Due at the big dimensions of this fighter, the old engines and pilot error, a very high number of P-38s, sadly, were lost in accidents. At least 30 crashes of P-38s in Italian service claimed a number of victims. Despite this, many Italian pilots liked the fighter, due to its excellent visibility on the ground and its stability at take off. Finally, P-38s were phased-out in 1956. Today, no Italian P-38s survive, nor even a single component from one, as these aircraft, with the value of light alloys, were quickly dismantled.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the MIlviz P-38L, representing A55-1 of the RAAF, 1943. In order to meet an urgent RAAF requirement for photographic reconnaissance, three P-38Es were transferred from the USAAF for service with No 1 PRU. The first Lightning, A55-1, depicted here, was received on August 31 1942, and operated successfully until it was written-off in a landing accident on August 2 1944 at Coomallie Strip. The second aircraft, A55-2 had a less spectacular career and operated only between 4 Sep 42 and 18 Dec 42, and was phased out of service on the latter date. The third Lightning, A55-3 was received from the USAAF at Eagle Farm on February 27 1943 and operated throughout the year until it was written-off in a wheels-up landing on December 10 1943.

The aircraft of this repaint, A55-1 was originally F-4-1-LO serial 41-2158. I have found pictures of it in camouflage paint as well as in bare metal, and it is the latter that I have depicted. It shows 59 mission markings on the picture taken at Coomalie Creek, which I assume was late in its career with the RAAF. Although the original was a P-38E/F-4 and the Milviz model is a P-38L, I thought people would still like this repaint.

Good morning,

Jankees and others...I am trying to balance all of these uploads with allowing space for other sim uploads. So what I have done is gone through the warbirds repaints section and sorted the files by their original release date in the download itself. So if they drop off the main page, they have not been deleted, they are still in the library.

And, you can now access any one of these uploads by clicking on the accompanying link provided in this thread.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the MIlviz F-100D Super Sabre, in the colours of F-100A 52-5778 in the colors it wore when it was flying with the NACA. The NACA received an early F-100A (52-5778) which it used to perform stability and control tests. NACA test pilot Scott Crossfield flew the F-100A during the late fall of 1954 to determine the flight boundaries where inertial coupling could occur. This did not go completely as planned, more on that flight here: http://www.thisdayinaviation.com/tag/52-5778/. The repaint depicts the aircraft as it looked after it was repaired.

- 44-13626 B7-M. It's assigned pilot was Lt. Edward B. Murdy. Although it shows the name 'Sweet Thing IV" in one picture, I have left the nose art off since "Sweet Thing IV" is usually associated with 44-13537 B7-W, the aircraft of Lt Col Webb.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-54 / DC-4 by Flight Replicas. It shows Douglas C-54 KX-1 OT-CWU of the Belgian Air Force. In 1950 the Belgian Air Force acquired a Douglas C54A-10-DC Skymaster from Sabena to improve passenger conditions on the link to and from the Belgian Congo. KX-1 OT-CWU was c/n 10326 42-72221 and served with the US Navy as BuNo39174. It came to Belgium in 1947 and flew with Sabena as OO-CBS. In 1954 a second aircraft was bought from S.A.S. this being a DC-4-1009. With the appearance in 1958 of the larger C-118 (DC-6) both aircraft were mainly used as pure freighters. Both aircraft operated by the Melsbroek based 21st Squadron of the 15th Transport wing were withdrawn from use in 1971 and although both survived for some years (KX-1 at Torhout, KX-2 at Southend (U.K.) they finally were scrapped.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-54 / DC-4 by Flight Replicas. It shows Douglas C-54A NL-302 of the Netherlands Government Air Transport, 1945. This was originally 42-72274 of the USAAF, which was bought by the Dutch Government in 1945 in a batch of 14 C-54's. These were converted to carry passengers. Although the aircraft were carrying military markings, they were in fact carrying passengers for KLM, among others to the Dutch East Indies. Since civilian aircraft were not always permitted to fly along this route immediately after the war they wore military paint. In 1947 all aircraft were transferred to the KLM and NL-302 became PH-TAD. It later flew with several European companies with registration F-BDRJ, before being scrapped in 1965.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina. Represented is #47002, one of three PBY5A Canso's that were purchased by the Swedish Air Force in 1947. #47002 was involved in the 'Catalina Affair' in 1952. On 16 june 1952, it was on a search and rescue mission between Gotland and Estonia, looking for a DC-3 that had disappeared three days earlier, when it was attacked and shot down by a Russian Mig-15. The russians claimed the (unarmed) Catalina had fired first. Only in recent years did the russians admit they were responsible for this incident, as well as for shooting down the DC-3.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina for FSX, representing OA-10a 44-33939, a USAF search and rescue aircraft of the 4th ARS, Hamilton AFB, California, that carried not only the yellow high visibility markings, but also a red tail and wingtips, for operations in the Arctic.

Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the repaint kit by Aerosoft.

Though the original aircraft carried a radome above the cockpit, it was not equipped with the large exhausts of the updated Aerosoft model. I've included textures for the large exhausts, but also the earlier model with the small exhausts and the appropriate textures.

Description: A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5a Catalina in the colors of PBY-5a #20 (BuNo 7277) of VB-126 as it looked during a rescue operation on the Greenland ice cap in 1943. On 5 November 1942, a C-53 en route from Iceland to Greenland was reported missing off Greenland's east coast. Four days later, a B-17F, en route for England was asked to to keep a lookout for the missing plane, but it crashed on the ice cap. The crew of suffered only minor injuries, and they soon received food and other supplies that were dropped on the ice. Unfortunately, they had landed in a heavily crevassed part of the icecap, making an evacuation difficult. On 28 November, a USCG Grumman Duck, flown by Lt Pritchard, managed to make a wheels-up landing on the ice and brought out two of the crew. The next day, a ground rescue team arrived on the site as well, and things looked good.

One crew member and a rescuer died when their sled disappeared in a crevasse, and later the same day, Lt. Pritchard's Duck disappeared as well, with a crew of three. On 6 December, an attempt was made to evacuate the B-17's navigator, Lt. O'Hara, who suffered from gangrene in his feet. One member is the rescue party fell into an crevasse, and the motorsled they were using broke down, so the men had to dig in and wait for help. The days continued until over Christmas, but morale was kept high with airdrops whenever the weather permitted. A rescue by sled became impossible however due to bad conditions and heavy snows. Lt. Col Balchen, who had used a PBY the previous summer to rescue the members of the B-17 'My Gal Sal' (currently under restoration in Ohio) of the ice, and was now in charge of the rescue operation, proposed to try the same here. The last summer, the PBY landed on a melt water lake on the icecap however, this time he wanted to belly land the PBY, and nobody knew if the hull could withstand such a battering. In the meantime, a ski-equipped T8P1 aircraft tried the same, but disappeared over the east coast. The crew members were found five days later in a rubber dinghy. The Navy finally gave permission to try an attempt with the PBY. and two PBY-5a"s were send to airfield BW-8, to wait for the right weather. On 5 February 1943, Lt Bernard Dunlop successfully belly-landed BuNo 7277 / 20 (the above paint job) at the motorsled camp, and the three survivors were taken on board. It has frozen solid in the ice, but after two hours of hard labor, the crew managed to free the PBY and it took off. Now only the three crew members still at the original site needed to be rescued. A ground rescue party was sent to the wreck to transport the survivors to a spot where the PBY could land, but bad weather prevented any flying until 17 march. On that day, Lt. Dunlop landed on the ice, dropping off Lt.Col Balchen and the rescue party, who reached the wreck the following day. The weather closed in again until finally, on April 5th, Lt Dunlop landed his PBY for the third time on the ice cap. All hands were taken on board, but after five attempts to take off, the starboard engine caught fire. The blaze was extinguished, but repairs were necessary. The next day, they managed to take off, but without the rescue party, to lighten the load. 149 days after their crash, the B-17 crew was finally clear of the ice. It wasn't until 18 May that the last member of the rescue party was finally evacuated, making this a six and a half month rescue operation.

Description: A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of PBY-5 (Bu08450) NZ4012 XX-N 'The Naughty Nine" of the RNZAF, as it looked while flying with FltLt Guy Rogers and crew from the Solomon Islands in 1945 with 6 Flying Boat Squadron. Following Japan's entry into the war in December 1941, the RNZAF had to switch from primarily training pilots to Europe into a combat force. No. 6 Squadron RNZAF was formed as an army co-operation unit at Milson in February 1942 flying Vickers Vildebeest and Hawker Hind aircraft. At the same time, No. 5 Squadron RNZAF moved to Fiji with Short Singapores and Vickers Vildebeest and Vincent biplanes. Modern maritime patrol flying boats (and more Hudson light bombers) were requested under Lend Lease and when the first Consolidated Catalinas arrived a detachment of men from No. 5 Squadron was assigned to convert to these types as No. 6 Squadron. Before the squadron was officially formed these men successfully completed their first air-sea rescue of a downed US aircrew. From May 1943 No. 6 squadron undertook action against the Japanese. The Squadron also conducted search and rescue missions for allied aircrew and seamen, and undertook many open sea rescues. XX-N arrived in Fiji on 20 june 1943. It was declared surplus to requirements in 1951, and was broken up in Hobsonville in 1952.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina for FSX, representing Y-45 of the Royal Dutch Naval Air Force (MLD). On 21 february 1942, Y-45 rescued 27 people from a life boat of the SS "Sloet van Beele". The rescued sailors told that was another life boat containing 80 people, so after dropping off its first load, the Y-45, flown by Mans Dorre, took off again. After searching for hours, the life boat was found, containing 79 sailors. All were stowed on board the PBY, and returned to safety, although some of them later died of exhaustion. In all, 230 people were saved that day, from the "Sloet van Beele" and the destroyer "van Nes". The Y-45 later escaped to Australia, where it served for most of the war, after which it was scrapped.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina for FSX. It is shown here as C-FCRR, with Air France colors. Built by Boeing of Canada at Vancouver, it became RCAF Canso 9767 on March 4, 1943, and was allocated to Squadron 162, coded S, at Reykjavik, Iceland. In 1944, piloted by Flying Officers Thomas Charles Cooke and Eric Walter Wiskin, 9767 sank the German U-boat U-342 off the coast of Iceland on April 17. The amphibian was removed from the military service on April 1, 1946. The same year it was sold to Canadian Pacific Airlines, registered CF-CRR and assigned fleet number 233 (later 933), it was operated until 1959, thereafter by Northland Airlines (1960-1968), Midwest Airlines (1969-1970), and Ilford Riverton until 1973. The registration was changed to C-FCRR when Avalon Aviation acquired it as a water bomber in 1977, listed as Tanker number 791.

In 1995 the aircraft was bought by Powell Eorp. Of Parry Sound, Ontario, subsequently it was owned by the Canadian Air Legend. The French pilot Franklin Devaux bought C-FCRR in 1995 and converted it to a flying television studio, it was based at Le Bourget, Paris, France. During 1996 C-FCRR was the star of monthly French television programme Operation Okavango, while in September 1998 it was the eye catcher of the three-week Champs-Elysees (Paris) static air show. The following October the aircraft started an 8,078 mls (13,000 km) trip to Chile via Dakar (Senegal) and Natal (Brazil) to commemorate early Air France South Atlantic mail service, returning to France in June 1999. On January 19, 2002 the aircraft was stored at Orly Airport, Paris, and has not flown since. Its Canadian registration was cancelled on October 7, 2005. At present it seems to be registered as N9767, and in airworthy condition again. Here's a youtube movie on this aircraft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6jyzV8Gawc.

Description: A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of G-PBYA, originally ordered for the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Canso A amphibian, basically equivalent to the US Navy PBY-5A. It was built by Canadian Vickers at Cartierville, Quebec and was allocated their constructors number CV-283 before adopting the RCAF serial 11005. It was taken on charge by the air force on 27 October 1943 and initially saw service with 9 (Bomber Reconnaissance) Squadron at Bella Bella on the British Columbia coast between Vancouver and Prince Rupert. It was on their inventory from November to the following August. 9 Squadron had been based at Bella Bella for some time prior to the arrival of Cansos, having operated Supermarine Stranraers there. The Cansos were mainly operated from water despite their amphibious undercarriages and were used on day and night patrols, looking out for enemy submarines. By mid-1944, the threat of a Japanese invasion of Western Canada had receded and it was decided to disband 9 Squadron and close the station at Bella Bella. The Cansos, including 11005, were flown to Alliford Bay in the Queen Charlotte Islands, also in British Columbia, and transferred to 7 (BR) Squadron in August. The job was the same – anti-submarine patrols mostly – and 11005 remained with 7 Sqn until it too was disbanded on 25 July 1945. After a post-war career as transport and waterbomber, it was acquired by Plane Sailing in 2004, restored and repainted as a OA-10A of the USAAF. It is based in Duxford. Description: Five repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of PBY-5's operated by Qantas on the 'Double Sunrise Service' between Western Australia and Ceylon between 1943 and 1945.

In 1943, Royal Australian Air Force personnel were seconded to operate Catalinas under the banner of Qantas. The plan called for flights between Perth, Western Australia, and RAF Base Koggala in southern Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). The flights were the longest non-stop air route of any airline, over 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km) across the Indian Ocean. Navigating without the aid of radio, the crews relied solely on rudimentary navigation by compass and stars during the trip.

Only Catalinas had that kind of range, so five PBY-5 flying boats were converted to make them suitable for the trip.

They received camouflage paint, with a RAAF roundel on the fuselage, but also a civilian registration, since they were officially operated by Qantas, and they were named after the stars they would be using for navigation:

Vega Star (G-AGFL/FP221 - tail code 1)

Taking between 27 and 33 hours, with departure timed so that the flight crossed Japanese occupied territory during darkness, the crews would observe the sunrise twice, which led to the service being known as "The Double Sunrise". The flight route flown was along the coast from Perth to Exmouth then setting out towards Cocos (Keeling) Island or Christmas Island (though neither was actually sighted during the flight) and onto Kogalla, a journey of approximately 3,580 nautical miles (6,630 km). After the success of the initial flights, it was decided to run a weekly service, with some services flying over Rottnest Island and then taking a direct line to Kogalla. As part of the Australia-England air route there was a surface component from Kogalla to Karachi that added considerable time to the service. This was later replaced by the Double Sunrise service, with Karachi to England flown by BOAC. Air crews would change in Kogalla taking the next plane in either direction minimising the time taken to complete the journey.

Though stripped of all non-essential equipment, including de-icing equipment and insulation, the average takeoff weight was 15,900 to 16,000 kg; this included 9,040 liters of fuel, which gave the Catalina a range of 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km). The service made 271 crossings, delivered over 4,500 kg of mail and carried 860 passengers, including among them British MP Edith Summerskill and the journalist Keith Murdoch. 'The Secret Order of The Double Sunrise' was an illustrated certificate given to passengers aboard the flying boats of the Australia-England air link, to attest they had been airborne for more than 24 hours.

After the war the five modified Catalinas that had flown The Double Sunrise service were scuttled.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina for FSX.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force had 56 Catalina's in all between 1943 and 1953. They were registered NZ4001-4056 inclusive and included 22 PBY-5s (mostly MklVAs) with the remainder being PB2B-1 s. All were flying boats, with no amphibian models being taken on charge. After the war only half a dozen or so of the best aircraft were maintained in service with No 5 Sqn (squadron code became KN-) and fitted with the latest search radar which had a large radome behind the cockpit. The remainder were put into storage. Two PB2B-ls were loaned to Tasman Empire Airways (TEAL) for short periods after the war, one (which became ZK-AMI) as a crew trainer, the other (ZK-AMP, former NZ4036) to survey a flying boat route from Fiji to Tahiti, later to become known as "The Coral Route" and used by TEAL's Solent flying boats. These two aircraft were eventually returned to the RNZAF before being scrapped.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Alabeo Beech Staggerwing in the colors of FZ433 of the RAF. Originally built as for the USAAF, c/n 4923 was transferred to the RAF, becoming FZ433 and was then shipped to Suez. Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Alabeo Beech Staggerwing in the colors of ZK-AJS (c/n 107). This was the former ZK-AEU after doing its wartime service (albeit almost permanently laid up for repairs) as NZ573. It was operated by the Auckland Aero Club on air ambulance and charter work. It was repainted very nicely in full 'Beechcraft' standard markings in red and silver. ZK-AJS was exported to Australia in 1955 becoming VH-BOU. After being re-registered VH-PMG in 1963 and VH-TOT in 1964, it had an accident in 1967 and was stricken off the register.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category P3D / P4D Add-Ons - Civilian repaints

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Alabeo Beech Staggerwing in the colors of VH-AFP, as it looked in the early sixties. This machine (c/n 357) was originally built as a D17A and registered in the USA as NC20778 to The Armor Institute on 1 November 1939. It took part in their 1940-41 Antarctic Expedition (which I painted as well), following which it was purchased by Connellan Airways in 1941. However, the aircraft was impressed by the RAAF as A39-2 prior to use by Connellan. Post war the aircraft was returned to Connellan where the original 380 hp Jacobs engine was replaced by a 450 hp Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior, bringing the aircraft up to D17S standard. It was first registered as VH-AFP on 19 March 1947. VH-AFP was withdrawn from service on 6 August 1951, however it was stored and returned to service in 1956, being re-registered on 3 April. The aircraft was once again withdrawn from service in November 1957 and was sold to Tadgell Aviation of Toowomba, Qld and used for crop seeding. It struck a tree and crashed on 22 December 1963 while seeding at Springton, near Dingo, Qld. Sadly the pilot was killed. The burnt out airframe of this Staggerwing was located in April 2007 at the remote crash site and collected by Staggerwing enthusiast Cameron Hanley and trucked to his hangar at Caboolture, Qld where he is rebuilding Beech C17B VH-UXP (for which two repaints are available as well).
